After Paul Walker’s tragic death last November, fans speculated how the beloved Fast & Furious character would deal with the storyline of his character, Brian O’Conner.
The studio had reportedly refused to “kill off” the beloved character, and some reports claimed they would use CGI to complete the seventh installment. But now, Fast fans finally have an answer—Paul’s brothers, Cody and Caleb will complete the late star’s action scenes for the film.
Ice Cube Clarifies His Controversial Comments About Paul Walker
“The Fast & Furious Saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. And it certainly defines how we feel about our fans,” a note posted on the official Facebook page reads.
“Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film.
“We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue… We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our Fast family.
"Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.”
Returning to the set may help Paul’s on-screen brothers—Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson—ease the pain.
In March, Tyrese opened up about their plans to honor their late costar before filming resumes.
“God’s grace is all we have,” he told TooFab. “Before we start filming we are going to have a strong prayer. That will be the start, before we film anything. That’s what is needed for us to go Fast & Furious 7.”
And we’re sure having Caleb and Cody on-set will only make the cast’s bond even stronger.
Fast & Furious 7 is set to hit theaters in April 2015.
