As host of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Chris Harrison is used to seeing reality TV get emotional, but when it comes to this surprising season of Dancing With the Stars, he's feeling pretty conflicted himself: He doesn't know who to root for! It seems Chris has a lot of friends at the show. “I love Melissa Rycroft, she is one of my favorite people,” Chris tells In Touch. “As soon as she got the gig, I called her. I knew dance is important to her and for her to do this show is really cool. For her to get to the finals is fantastic.” But that didn't stop him from wagering on her success. “It’s tough as I have a side bet going with Mark Ballas as to who would go further, Shawn Johnson or Melissa,” admits Chris. “He walked up to me before and was asking where his money was!”

And Mark still expects him to pay up. "He said Shawn wouldn’t make the finals,” laughs Mark. “Now he’s changing things — I want my $100!” Chris and Mark became friends through Kristi Yamaguchi, who won season six with Mark. But it doesn’t end there.
“Gilles [Marini] is one of my best friends and we have become really close,” Chris says. The two also play soccer together for Hollywood United. “I told Gilles as long as you and Melissa make it to finals, you are like both my children now. I don’t care what happens.”
Which begs the question, when might Chris don his dancing shoes? “I would absolutely do this show," he says. “I would do it in a heartbeat. I am not a dancer — I play soccer.” Of course, that hasn’t stopped pal Gilles. “He’s such a good dancer — damn French!” laughs Chris. “Maybe it’s a soccer player thing so I may have a shot. But I am not taking my shirt off like Gilles — I can tell you that now. Okay, maybe for a few extra votes, I might!”
