Catherine Hickland, author of The 30-Day Heartbreak Cure,
knows a thing or two about recovering from a breakup. Not only has she starred on the ABC daytime drama One Life to Live for more than 10 years, she’s also been married three times in real life — most notably to David Hasselhoff and fellow soap star Michael E. Knight, from whom she's filed for divorce.
In her book, Catherine shares her expertise for getting past the pain by breaking it down into a day-to-day, one-month plan. "When a relationship ends, our self-esteem takes a beating," Catherine tells In Touch. "Learning how to be strong and smart enough in getting to know ourselves from the inside out, is the key to immediate healing. I'm not asking people to deny their feelings, I'm asking them to get the spotlight out and shine a light on the monsters under the bed. This program works," she adds. "Think of it as flipping a switch. It turns the reader on and empowers them."
