It’s no surprise Beyoncé and Jay-Z came out to show their support for President Obama at the inauguration today — we mean, come on, this pair are besties with the prez and first lady, Michella Obama, after all.
The glamorous duo attended the event to watch the POTUS swear in for his second term—Bey, who looked gorgeous in a floor-length Pucci gown, even lent her perfect pipes and gave a stellar performance of “The National Anthem” at the end of the inauguration.
And because this powerful pairing is so interesting, we’ve decided to look back at their friendship.

B and J have been long-time supporters of the first family. In 2008, the couple revealed they supported Obama and raised a ton of money for his campaign. They did so again when Obama ran in 2012.
“I believe the same thing about Barack that I believed at day one. What he represents is bigger than any political agenda that he can pass across the House, Senate or whatever,” Jay-Z has said.
And in a letter to the first lady, Bey writes, “Michelle thank you so much for every single thing that you do for us—I am so proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”
The admiration is mutual. “I love her to death,” the first lady has shared about the “Single Ladies” songstress.
In Oct 2012, Obama chatted with a Cleveland radio station about his friendship with the couple, "I’ve gotten to know these guys over the first several years. They’re good people. They're down to earth. Beyoncé could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they’re good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends."
During a fundraiser for the 2012 campaign, President Obama also shared, “Let me just begin by saying to Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship. We are so grateful.”
“Jay-Z now knows what my life is like,” he added. “We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s okay.”
Hmm…we wonder if there’s anyway we could get in this inner circle!
