When you're constantly in the limelight, the threat of having your image tarnished by others, or being targeted by others for a whole lot of money is a very real threat — just ask these celebs. From slapping lawsuits on others to being slapped with a crazy lawsuit of their own, you won't believe what stars have sued or been sued for!
We would never question whether or not Beyoncé is Blue Ivy's real mom, but back in the summer of 2014, a Bronx woman named Tina Seals had everyone wondering when SHE claimed maternity over Blue. In fact, she didn't just stop at Blue Ivy, but actually sought for maternity tests for Mariah Carey's twins and even North West!
Taco Bell may have thought they were being funny when they sent letters to media outlets requesting for the rapper to change his name to "79 cents," "89 cents," or even "99 cents," in a means to promote their new low-cost menu, but the real 50 was NOT laughing. Instead, he slapped the fast food chain with a lawsuit, where defamation was definitely referenced.
Back in 2010, Lindsay sued the financial services company, E-Trade, for one of their commercials that had featured a baby named Lindsay who was referred to as a "milkaholic." Lindsay claimed that E-Trade had "used her name and characterization" without permission, and of course, the "milkaholic" reference may have been a subtle stab at her previous reported substance abuse problems.
For Allen Heckard, looking like the famed NBA superstar caused enough "emotional duress" to warrant an $832 million lawsuit against both Michael Jordan and Nike. Since when did looking like a celebrity become a bad thing? (He eventually dropped the case.)
Perhaps one of the most outrageous lawsuits of all was what Diddy suffered through (as short-lived as it was) in regards to Valerie Turks. Turks had claimed a variety of things, including that the rap mogul had fathered her child and stolen a poker chip worth "over a zillion dollars." Needless to say, the judge quickly dismissed her case.
