Selena Gomez is getting personal as she prepares to drop her upcoming album, Revival.
The 23-year-old singer stuns on the cover of Billboard magazine, on newsstands now, in which she drops a startling bombshell — she was not only diagnosed with lupus, but she also underwent chemotherapy to treat the awful disease.
“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy,” the gorgeous cover girl tells the mag.
“That’s what my break was really about," she confessed, referring to the time she spent away from the spotlight earlier this year. "I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a--holes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
Sel’s confession comes more than a year after her grandparents disclosed that the former Disney Channel star was in treatment for the autoimmune disease.
Lupus is a chronic, inflammatory disease that occurs when one’s body attacks its own tissues and organs.
