Anthony Riley, a contestant on The Voice who left the singing competition to deal with his substance-abuse issues, was found dead on Friday, June 5 following an apparent suicide.
The Philadelphia Inquirer, who first reported his passing, says the 28-year-old crooner was a regular performer on the streets in the City of Brotherly Love prior to his stint on the singing competition show.

A friend of Anthony's tells The Inquirer he was found in the basement of the apartment he was staying at in Philly's Center City neighborhood.
Upon hearing news of his death, NBC and The Voice released a statement expressing their condolences.
“We are sad over the passing of Anthony Riley,” it read. “We offer our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this very difficult time.”
