She may be gone for now, but that doesn’t mean she’s gone for good.
After an injury forced pro figure skater Dorothy Hamill to resign from Dancing With the Stars on March 26, the athlete is now telling In Touch that fans may not have seen the last of her on the dance floor.
“Oh absolutely!” Dorothy replied when In Touch asked if she’d ever return for another season of DWTS once she’s recovered. “I'd do it in a heartbeat!”
During Tuesday’s shocking episode, the 56-year-old explained her reasoning for leaving the hit program two weeks into the competition— coincidentally, on the same night that the show’s first contestant would have been eliminated.
"I have an injury that could be irreparable," she said of her spine. "It would be completely unfair for me to stay in this and have any of these people go home."

Dorothy went on to tell In Touch that she has “a synovial cyst on the lumbar spine,” explaining that she will likely need physical therapy and routine exercises (hopefully no surgery!) to treat the numbness and weakness she’s currently experiencing.
Because Dorothy withdrew from the competition, none of the other hopefuls were sent home.
So now that she’s out of the running for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy, who is the Olympian rooting for?
“That's a tough one. For various reasons, a whole bunch of them!” she tells the mag. “I just love to see the evolution of people like Andy [Dick] and Wynona and Kelly [Pickler]. Zendaya, she's just a star! DL [Hughley], yeah. Jacoby [Jones]. For different reasons, I'm sort of rooting for all of them! And, I love Lisa Vanderpump.”
To see Dorothy’s favorites continue to sweep the dance floor, be sure to tune into Dancing With the Stars every Monday at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
