The Biggest Loser: What you didn’t see!

BiggestLoser0325.jpg
Stephanie Anderson started this season of The Biggest Loser with her mom, Patti, but the Purple Team was split up in week two when Patti was eliminated. This week, the contestants spent a week at home, so we decided to check in with Patti on her daughter’s progress. “I’m so proud of her,” Patti tells In Touch. “She stayed true to her original intent, which was to do what she needed to succeed without sabotaging anyone else, and her integrity and character really comes through."

Read on to find out more about what you didn’t see — as well as Patti’s reaction to her daughter’s romance with Sam! — on this week’s episode.

Did they give you lots of advance notice that Stephanie was coming home?
No. One thing I learned about reality television is you hurry up and wait or you don’t know anything, and then it’s last-minute! But that’s perfectly fine. It was so wonderful to have her home. We really missed her a lot. It gave me a little shot in the behind to keep going. It’s hard at home, and she just injected a little bit of spunk and life back into me.

You hadn’t seen her since you left, right?
That’s right. I was unbelievably shocked at how she was stunning, just glowing from the inside out. She’s always been a beautiful woman, but she was just stunning when she walked around the corner.

And she must have told you about Sam then.
Yes, and we just couldn’t be more thrilled. Obviously, I met Sam from the beginning and could tell instantly what a wonderful young man he is. He has wonderful values, loves his family and his faith… all the things that we’ve instilled in Stephanie, his family instilled in him. I was only there for two weeks, but I could see a little bit of attraction initially. The good thing is that they both started out at their worst, they became friends, and then it developed into something more. That’s how a relationship lasts; that’s how my relationship with my husband has lasted. He’s a good man, and she’s a wonderful woman. They’re so happy. We met his family. They live up north, and they’re wonderful, too.

She said you noticed a flirtation right away and urged her to be careful.
That’s right. We were all so vulnerable, and with her history of dating — she just never met that right person, and she tended to push people away because she was afraid to get hurt. But she slowly but surely let Sam in, and I think it’s been wonderful for both of them.

Stephanie had a chance to eat cupcakes to add time to other people’s finishes in the challenge — did you give her any advice about that?
I didn’t have to. Stephanie made her own choice, but we went into this with the thought that we just had to worry about ourselves and not try to sabotage anyone else. So I knew she wouldn’t do that.

So what happened to them?
They sat on the counter, and our guests munched on them throughout the day. They were little and decorated pretty, but not worth it at all.

Did you have one?
No! I haven’t even had a cocktail since September! I choose my calories wisely.

How are you doing?
I’ve lost a little over 70 pounds, all at home. What I learned those initial two weeks has been invaluable. I just want to tell the world that you don’t have to be on the Biggest Loser ranch to do it. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I think there’s 62 days left to the finale, and I’m going to make everyone one of them count, and after, as well!

Are you excited to shop for your outfit?
Absolutely! I’m not sure what size I’ll be, but I’m looking and of course, it will be purple!
