Who’s Hungry? We’re Planning Thanksgiving Dinner With Jill Duggar’s Best/Worst Recipes

Who else is ready to chow down on some turkey and mashed potatoes? Or are you more of a tater tot casserole and Thalia’s chicken spaghetti sauce kind of Duggar fan? In honor of Thanksgiving, we’re planning the ultimate holiday feast menu using only recipes from Jill Dillard (née Duggar). Choosing from some of her best to some of her worst, we’re coming up with the perfect Duggar meal plan.

Unfortunately, Thanksgiving 2020 will look a little different for the Dillard family. Not only will the coronavirus pandemic put a damper on large family gatherings, but Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, are still estranged from her parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar. After months of speculation of a feud between the Duggar and Dillard households, Jill and Derick confirmed their falling out with the Duggar patriarch and matriarch.

“Yes, there’s been some distancing there,” the former Counting On star admitted via a YouTube video in October 2020. “We’re not on the best terms with some of my family.”

While Jill didn’t go into too much detail about the reason behind the rift, she hinted the tension stemmed from “disagreements” between her, her husband and her parents.

Despite the drama, Jill seemed hopeful that she and Derick would be able to reconcile their differenceS with her family. “We’re working toward healing, definitely, and restoration,” she continued. “We’re having to kind of just take some time and heal and just doing what’s best for our family right now and just working through it, I guess. It’s difficult, but we’re praying and trust in God that the timeline is his.”

Thankfully, it seems Derick and Jill won’t let their family issues put a dark cloud over their holiday plans. The couple opened up about how they plan to celebrate Thanksgiving 2020 in a Q&A video on their YouTube channel.

“Thanksgiving is very special to us because it holds a special place in our relationship. That was the first holiday we celebrated as a couple. Jill came to Nepal seven years ago and we actually, once all the filming and everything was done and we like, recorded our ‘goodbye,’ she stayed another week and we had Thanksgiving together,” Derick said in November 2020.

Jill added, “That wasn’t in the show.” She went on to explain that the couple also spent several Thanksgivings abroad and they love to have lots of family and friends over, but this year’s guest list will be scaled down due to social distancing measures.

“This year, Derick’s mom and stepdad will not be traveling to Oklahoma to see family on Thanksgiving so we’re going to have them over and keep our limits under our Arkansas guidelines for less than 10 people, including our family,” Jill explained. “So Derick’s family and then maybe one other like, international family. We’ll see.”
