Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans and David Eason’s Relationship Is Never-Ending Drama: Complete Timeline

New Beginnings

Back in 2015, Jenelle revealed that she had moved on romantically after parting ways with her ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith. The MTV alum met David on Tinder and she posted a flirty selfie with him that September.

Making Memories

“Dinner last night,” she captioned a photo of them. At the time, they were getting along fabulously and sparks were flying. Jenelle and David even went “muddin” together on a rainy day.

Expecting

By August 2016, the couple shared some big news with the world. Jenelle confirmed that she was expecting her third child — her first with David.

Bigger Brood

Jenelle already had a son named Jace with former flame Andrew Lewis at the time. She also had another son, Kaiser, with her ex Nathan. David had a daughter and son of his own named Maryssa and Kaden.

Due Date

“Time to introduce the world to our baby girl soon, Ensley Jolie Eason. She will be arriving Jan. 28th. We couldn’t be any happier! @uncledave01,” Jenelle dished while making her announcement.

David and Jenelle’s bundle of joy was born in January 2017. The next month, the pair announced they were engaged.

“We’ve decided on forever! #PerfectTiming,” the reality star wrote while showing off her dazzling new ring on social media. Fans got to watch their relationship evolve on the hit MTV show Teen Mom 2.

Building a Life Together

In March 2017, the couple decided to purchase a new abode together in North Carolina before their wedding and it was, “#HomeSweetHome.”

Peaks and Pitfalls

The duo ended their year on a high note by tying the knot in September. However, David sparked serious controversy in early 2018. 

Facing Criticism

David was let go from TM2 shortly after taking to Twitter with some homophobic remarks. The network released a statement confirming that his comments “do not reflect the views of MTV.”

Lesson Learned?

Jenelle later defended David and said he didn’t realize it would cause such backlash. She claimed that David agreed he will “keep his comments to himself from now on.”

Turmoil at Home

Unfortunately, the couple made headlines again in October 2018. She accused David of assault during a tear-filled 911 call. Afterwards, Jenelle claimed it was a “drunk and dramatic misunderstanding” to E! News.

Break Up to Make Up

In the following months, Jenelle and David were the subject of swirling split rumors. She fueled the speculation by changing her Facebook status to “Separated” in February 2019.

Controversy Continues

It seemed the couple was really on the verge of a breakup when shocking reports surfaced in May, revealing that David shot and killed her dog Nugget for snapping at their daughter, Ensley.

Not long after, it was announced that MTV “stopped filming” Jenelle. The network was no longer planning on covering her story in the wake of the scandal.

Custody News

In May, Jenelle and David also temporarily lost custody of the kids amid the fallout. After several court appearances, it was revealed the two regained custody rights in July.

Despite their efforts to work things out, Jenelle confirmed that she and David split on October 31, 2019, after two years of marriage.

“The kids and I have moved away from David. Nobody gets into a marriage expecting it to end but I know thats what is best for me, and for my kids. Today I’ve filed papers to start that process,” she wrote.

After much speculation, Jenelle finally confirmed on March 21 she is back together with David. “Yes. Me and him are deciding to work things out right now. We’re taking it slowly,” she said during a Q&A video on her YouTube channel.

“You will always be the love of my life [Jenelle],” David wrote in a sweet Instagram tribute to his wife on March 31, 2020. “I’m so happy that we have become so close and bonded recently. Here’s to a lifetime of our own kind of quarantine, boat rides, ATV trails, living off the land, etc. I don’t think we are going to have a hard time staying secluded, LOL. We already have been for a while.”

Another Split

Jenelle confirmed she and David broke up again after he was arrested for “assault with a deadly weapon” and “communicating threats” on June 12, 2020, In Touch confirmed.

“I’m shaking and saddened by this. It’s time for me to move on from this relationship and find happiness for my kids and myself elsewhere,” she said in a statement to Celebernation.

Happy Anniversary

“Through all the BS, we made it,” Jenelle shared via Instagram in September 2021 while celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary. “I’ve never been happier and glad we are on another level of understanding each other. CHEERS TO US.”

MTV Return

During a September 2022 appearance on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Jenelle revealed that she and David had hit a rough patch and she’s “so fed up.”

“We haven’t been getting along lately. It’s been on and off,” she shared. “Everyone knows he doesn’t have a job. It’s like, I’m sitting here providing for everyone, for years, and it’s still the same!”

Trouble in Paradise

Jenelle began airing the couple’s problems out on social media in December 2022 as eagle-eyed fans noticed she posted on his Facebook profile asking why he “blocked [her] number.”

Unhappy Birthday

“Tell me where [David Eason] is [because] it’s my birthday at midnight and he’s gone,” the former reality star shared via Instagram in December 2022. “I don’t want to explain but just know that my birthday was ruined because of a narcissistic a–hole.”

Working Things Out?

It appears the pair’s troubles were short-lived as David took to social media to wish his wife a happy birthday and sharing a video of Jenelle blowing out her candles. Jenelle later reshared the family footage.

Putting Rumors to Rest

Jenelle shared a TikTok on December 21, 2022, with the caption, “I found the girl he left me for,” as she pointed to herself. “Putting rumors to rest,” she captioned the video when she reposted it to Instagram.

However, after one follower commented that she “hoped this time, you kicked him out for good” Jenelle clapped back.

“Because we argued about luggage?! Right,” she wrote with a crying laughing face. “You have no idea.”

Feeling ‘Stuck’

By August 2023, Jenelle was back in the headlines after admitting that she felt “stuck” in her marriage to David.

“Being around negative energy everyday all day is getting exhausting. I need to force myself to have friends because at this point I’m making myself introverted,” she shared via Facebook, to which David retorted, “Yes get friends, give me space. I like to be alone!” Jenelle responded, “If you like to be alone stop begging me to be around me.”

“I have gave you space when I went alone to the beach this weekend, doing my errands alone. It’s been amazing!” she continued, before David clapped back, “Yea and when I give you space all hell breaks loose!”

Stealing and Cheating?

Amid their August 2023 online brawl, Jenelle seemingly accused her husband of cheating on her and stealing from her.

“You’re right David Eason, I have depression because of you. I’ve been mentioning my feelings to the public for a few days now,” Jenelle wrote via Facebook on August 12. “Stolen debit cards, name calling, buying every toy you want in life and asking for another motorcycle for weeks now, planning and paying for all family trips, having lots of ‘fun’ IN MY OWN HOUSE when I was in [Tennessee] (2019) that I pay for, not coming home until late hours, hearing ‘no one likes you, that’s why you don’t have friends’ on top of lots of other negative things, constantly pushing you off of me because I don’t want you to touch me.”

She continued, “The constant put down I receive everyday is distracting and would discourage anyone from focusing on their life, which I’m not going to let happen ever again. I’m sick of begging you to change and step up for the family. It’s time to start selling.”

Runaway Jace

On August 15, Jenelle and David faced yet another hurdle when her 14-year-old, Jace, was reported as a runaway. He was later found, and Jenelle made it clear that his behavior had nothing to do with her ongoing marital woes.

“As a boy mom, kids can act up and rebel as I’m sure the majority of us all once did as kids too,” Jenelle said. “We decided to take his phone away and that’s when he decided to run off, Jace is a good kid and we’re not dealing with anything that most families don’t deal with while raising children.”

“David, we do not argue in front of our children or fight in front of our kids,” she continued. “This is a teenage boy being a teenager mad that we decided to take his phone away.”

‘Get Off My Case’

Amid Jace’s runaway report, David took to social media and slammed fans who expressed feelings and concerns.

“Jace is fine,” David wrote via Facebook. “He has been found, everyone needs to calm down! I was the first one looking for him so get off my case!”

David also took to Instagram to further express himself, clapping back at those who assumed “all kinds of s—t about Jace.”

“I’ve been out here running through the f—king woods for a half hour trying to find him. Yeah, I’ve been sitting in the air conditioning trying to cool ‘cause I almost had a f—king heat stroke trying to find this kid,” he said, alleging that officers told him to “go home.” “I do all the f—king work around here. I take care of everything around here. If you think I don’t just ‘cause of what someone might tell you when they’re mad, you’re f—king wrong.”

CPS Investigation

After Jace attempted to run away a third time in September 2023, the teen was admitted to the hospital. In Touch confirmed at the time that CPS had gotten involved when Jace claimed that he ran away because David “assaulted” him. Both Jenelle and David publicly denied her son’s claim.

David’s Charges

On October 24, 2023, David was charged with a children abuse misdemeanor after CPS found visible bruises on Jace during his hospitalization. Jenelle continued to defend David on social media, accusing the police of a “one-sided investigation” in an Instagram Stories video.

“This seems like a very bias situation like every time before. I trusted that detective with all my heart. Forgot you can’t trust cops … silly me,” she said. “I do not trust anyone around me. Going MIA for awhile.”

David was indicted on child abuse charges during a hearing on January 10, 2024. “They found enough evidence to take his case out of district court, where misdemeanors are held, and bring it to superior,” a clerk of the court told In Touch at the time.

Jenelle announced on February 15, 2024, that CPS dropped the case against her husband, sharing in a TikTok video that she was “focusing on Jace’s mental health.”

Splitsville

Fans speculated that Jenelle and David split shortly after their case was dropped, as the couple changed their relationship statuses on Facebook to “separated” and unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Then, on February 23, 2024, Jenelle filed to legally separate from her husband, The U.S. Sun reported. She claimed in the court paperwork that they separated on February 16 and filed “with the intent that the separation be permanent.” Jenelle cited David’s “erratic” behavior, “substance abuse” issues and his refusal to work as the reasons for their separation.

“Throughout the duration of the marriage of the parties, the defendant has exhibited concerning and at times disturbing behavior towards the plaintiff,” she stated.
