“Jay and I went to City Hall in Harrisburg, PA, said our vows, then flew out to Vegas for an actual ceremony a week later,” Ashley explained. The marriage was later certified on May 22, 2018.

On January 11, Ashley filed papers to end her and Jay’s eight-month-long marriage, after sharing some cryptic messages on social media. However, she ended up withdrawing the paperwork.

That same month, the mother-of-two was hospitalized for the second time in weeks for complications from lupus, and was being treated for kidney failure. Despite the tension in their relationship, Jay rushed to be by her side.

Jay later expressed his regrets for causing her any pain in a since-deleted Instagram post. “I may have hurt you,” he wrote. “I may have not been a good husband. Jumping on a plane the second I found out you was in the hospital was something I didn’t even think twice to do.”

In February, Ashley broke her NDA and revealed that she and Jay never actually called it quits. “Jay and I have never separated since we were married,” she wrote, revealing that being honest meant she wouldn’t get paid for filming the spinoff, Happily Ever After? “We were made to act as if our relationship was no longer active.”
