Well, technically it’s true. According to a warranty deed obtained from Iron County in Utah for Meri Brown’s bed and breakfast, the Sister Wives star is listed as an “unmarried woman,” even though she considers herself married to Kody Brown. What about her “spiritual” marriage?! Guess it doesn’t count. Radar Online was the first to report the news.

Sister Wives fans may recall that Kody, 50, divorced Meri in 2014 to legally marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. So in strictly legal terms, the 48-year-old is considered unmarried, and Robyn, 40, would likely be the only woman in their plural marriage who could put herself down as “married.”

Kody also has two other wives — Janelle Brown and Christine Brown. And despite all their talk of being one big, happy family, the Browns actually don’t even live together these days. The family is still trying to sell three homes in Las Vegas and moved to four separate rental properties in Flagstaff, Arizona. On February 27, Radar reported that the four-bedroom, five-bathroom home Meri is renting is nine miles from Christine’s home. She is also 13 miles from Janelle’s home, and 46-year-old Christine’s house is 12 miles away from Janelle, 49, and 8.5 miles away from where Robyn lives.

On the March 10 episode of Sister Wives, Kody suggested that he wanted the whole family to live under one roof back when they were discussing the family move to Flagstaff. Clearly, things did not turn out that way.

So what about this bed and breakfast of Meri’s, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn? Not only is she considered “unmarried” on the warranty deed for the property, but she’s also basically running the business alone despite the family’s constant insistence that they are all a family and in this together.  During a confessional scene in another Sister Wives episode this season, Meri said, “This is my baby. They don’t care about the house or the bed and breakfast business. Once I get this house done, I don’t want to have any more business meetings about my house. I want to run my business my way.”

Meri and Kody are continuing to work on their marriage, even if Meri isn’t legally considered a married woman any longer. But is she putting as much work into that partnership as she is towards her bed and breakfast? Fans will just have to keep watching the show to see whether they can patch things up and make their relationship stronger than ever.
