Every marriage takes patience and hard work — any married couple will tell you that much. But what they won’t tell you is that when your marriage is running close to 30 years, like Sister Wives stars Kody and Meri Brown, it also takes another thing entirely: innovation. For this longtime couple, continuing to make things work is an evolving process.  Watch the video above to see what she said about their marriage and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Kody, 50, called his and Meri’s marriage “platonic” during season 12 last year, so it will be interesting to see what kind of developments the couple makes during the new season. Though their union seems to have taken a different turn from the other sister wife couplings, they have been able to make things work between them for almost 30 years. We have faith in them!

But while things haven’t been looking so great between Kody and his first wife, the relationships between her and her sister wives have also suffered. And that doesn’t make for the happiest home.

According to Christine Brown, Kody’s third wife, the whole fam is currently living apart after their move to Flagstaff and thus it has been a bit more difficult for them to get together and see one another. We wonder if the set up was in some way intentional, because the wives really do need some serious time apart from one another. Maybe Kody even feels the need to step back a bit from the needs of four different women — we imagine it’s a tough job, but to be fair, it can sometimes be difficult to get the patriarch to see the needs of the many vs. the needs of the few.

No matter what led to the Arizona living situation, we do hope that Kody and Meri are able to really work on — and conquer — those ups. Hopefully, it causes a ripple effect, because we miss that strong family bond from the early days of Sister Wives.
