It's a ...‘Counting On’ Stars John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett Reveal They’re Expecting a Baby Girl!
Congrats are in order! John David Duggar and Abbie Grace Burnett revealed on August 20, that baby No. 1 is a girl, according to TLC. “We are so excited to announce that we are having a …” John, 29, began, before Abbie, 27, interjected with, “Baby girl!” Her husband continued, “We knew the gender of the baby but our family didn’t. Nobody else here except for Jana [Duggar] knew.”
The duo shared photos from their gender reveal party on Instagram before they let their fans know the sex of the baby and teased, “Boy or girl, what’s your guess??” But eagle-eyed Counting On fans noted one detail that gave away the answer before the couple did.
“All the grass has pink stuff all over it so I’m assuming a girl 😂💗💗💗,” one person commented, referring to one of the pictures the couple shared of the front yard at the Duggar house. “Its a girl I can see the pink in the back of the first pic,” another person wrote. Well, they were right! And it sounds like the parents to be are pumped about the news. “I’m so excited about hair bows and pink dresses and lots of sparkle,” Abbie said. “I just hope she’s as pretty as her mommy. I know she will be,” John added sweetly.
John and Abbie first shared the exciting news that they were expecting their first baby on August 1. “We are on Cloud 9 about welcoming our own little Duggar into the world,” the lovebirds told People at the time. “It really is amazing to think about being parents and having our own child to raise … We are thankful that God has blessed us with this new life and we look forward to taking on this new adventure!
Fans of the couple started seriously suspecting that they were expecting after John and Abbie shared photos via Instagram on July 29, from a trip to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for #OSH19. In one shot, John stood behind his bride with his arms wrapped around her, and both of them seemed to have their hands resting on Abbie’s stomach. “I thought this was a pregnancy announcement! 😂” one follower wrote in the comments. “Me too, lol,” agreed another. “I got super excited.”
Unlike the rest of the Duggars, it sounds like this is one couple that might not be trying to have an entire busload of kids. At their wedding, when the pastor joked that JD hoped to “outdo” his father when it comes to having children, John quickly shook his head and chimed in, “I don’t know about that.” No matter how many they end up having, we hope both Abbie and John are thrilled to be welcoming their first little girl.
