Exclusive90 Day Fiance’s Jorge Nava Believes Weight Loss Led to Split From Wife Anfisa: ‘She Was Jealous’
Dunzo. 90 Day Fiancé star Jorge Nava confirms to In Touch he and his wife, Anfisa Nava (née Arkhipchenko), “are not together,” and he exclusively reveals his dramatic 128-pound weight loss is the reason for their split.
“I think she was just jealous of the attention that I was getting,” Jorge, 31, tells In Touch in an interview conducted by his lawyer, Brad Rideout, managing partner, attorney-at-law at Rideout Law Group. “The news about my weight loss didn’t sit with her very well.”
In November 2019, photos of Jorge from prison, where he is currently serving out a two and a half year sentence, surfaced online. In the pictures, the TLC star showed off his new physique and he received a lot of praise from fans. He thinks that is what led to his breakup from Anfisa, 24.
“I believe so because at that very moment in time, that’s when she blocked my phone calls and I kind of was starting to lose contact with her,” the California native explains. “She did tell me like right off the bat, like the day after, that she didn’t want anything to do with me and that it was over.”
Jorge was arrested in February 2018 when he was pulled over for a traffic violation and cops found 293 pounds of marijuana in his car. He posted $25,000 bond and was released from jail two days later. At his court hearing in July 2018, he pleaded guilty to Class 4 felony of Attempted Transportation of Marijuana for Sale. He began his prison sentence in September 2018.
While in prison, Jorge adopted a healthy lifestyle. “It was actually intentional. It sorta just happened naturally,” he previously revealed to In Touch about his weight loss journey. “After I started dropping the weight, it almost became like an addiction, losing [weight] and feeling healthy.”
Jorge and Anfisa were first introduced to TLC fans on 90 Day Fiancé season 4, when Anfisa moved to the United States from Russia on a K-1 visa to marry Jorge. Their courthouse wedding was documented on the show, and they continued their journey on seasons 2 and 3 of the spinoff 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. But on March 31, Jorge revealed he planned to divorce Anfisa after he is released from prison in May. In a statement to In Touch, Anfisa revealed she and Jorge were having issues in their marriage long before they separated.
“Jorge and I were on the verge of divorce before he went to prison but once it happened, I wanted to put our issues aside and stay by his side and support him in this difficult situation,” she said. “However, the whole time I felt like I had a weight on my shoulders that wouldn’t let me be happy. I knew I had to end it and it would be better for the both of us, so Jorge and I talked about it and mutually decided to part ways a few months ago and agreed to divorce once he’s released.”
