A sigh of relief. Sumit Singh’s estranged wife withdrew the criminal case she had against him on the Sunday, October 25, episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.

The season 2 star, 32, feared the worst before he faced off with his ex and former in-laws in court. Sumit told his long-distance love, Jenny Slatten, 61, that his divorce could be put on hold after getting “bad news” in the very first scene.

“I got a notice,” he informed Jenny about his impending legal battle. In her confessional, Jenny claimed Sumit told her his spouse filed false allegations of abuse against him. Jenny added that his estranged wife was apparently supposed to drop the charges when Sumit and her agreed to mutual divorce and he paid her $20,000 to settle it. However, that didn’t seem to be the case at the time.

Tension was seemingly brewing between the exes because the charges were alleged “mental and physical torture,” he said. “I never tried to hurt my wife,” Sumit declared, before revealing she was seeking $500 per month in spousal support. That development startled Jenny as she said they couldn’t afford all of their expenses in addition to hiring a lawyer to fight back, which would cost more.

Sumit was trying to stay calm, but was very nervous when the court date came up. Everything ended up working out in his favor, much to his surprise. “Sumit’s wife and father-in-law withdrew the criminal case against him and his family. As a result, the judge dropped all charges,” a message read across the screen.

When he drove back home with a pal, Sumit confessed he was finally at peace. “Now I can sleep again,” he admitted in the car. The TLC star later reunited with Jenny and let her know the case was over and confirmed he also didn’t have to pay his ex spousal support.

While they were headed in the right direction, Jenny noted they were not out of the woods entirely just yet. “Until his divorce goes through, we can’t get married,” she pointed out in her confessional. This meant her time in India could be limited.

Jenny and Sumit also still had to earn the approval of his parents, Sahna and Anil, which wasn’t going to be a small feat considering his mother, Sahna, previously said she would “never” accept Jenny because of their age difference.

It’s been a rocky road for Jenny and Sumit, but all hope is not lost!
