It’s over. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Jihoon Lee confirmed his split from wife Deavan Clegg via Instagram Live on Saturday, August 22.

“So I can’t tell everything because the show [is] not finished. They will be happy and I need to be happy. Just, I will live my own life,” Jihoon, 29, told fans, mentioning his wife and kids. “If you lost [a] lover, boy [or] girl. So sad, but you can start again.”

Jihoon described himself as “free” in the since-deleted IG Live. His reveal comes just days after Deavan, 23, confirmed she “moved back” to America after relocating to South Korea to start a life together with her husband, daughter Drascilla from a previous relationship, and the couple’s 16-month-old son, Taeyang.

Fans started to speculate that Deavan and Jihoon broke up after she returned to her home state of Utah in May. Deavan and her mom, Elicia Clegg, previously told fans Deavan was only visiting family and had gotten “stuck” in America due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it was later revealed that Deavan was permanently living in the states while her husband remains in South Korea.

“We are living our own life, that’s our future,” Jihoon told fans during the Live. “So just keep watching. Just keep [supporting] [me] getting [a] better life and please pray for Deavan and Taeyang, [for] their family life.”

When fans asked what the couple will do in terms of custody over their son, Jihoon explained he will have yearly visits. “[Deavan] said every summertime, she [will] go back to Korea with Taeyang. She promised, So we can see Taeyang,” he explained.

Jihoon’s admission comes just as the couple’s struggles in South Korea continue to play out on season 5 of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? The show is currently documenting the first few weeks after Deavan moved to South Korea in August 2019. Almost immediately after her arrival, the couple fought about their finances, as Jihoon previously admitted he lied to Deavan about making enough money to provide for their family of four.

Just as the couple worked through their money issues, they had another blowout fight following a scary incident with Deavan’s daughter, Drascilla. In one scene that aired during the Sunday, August 16 episode, the 3-year-old ran off toward a street while Jihoon was supposed to be watching after her. Deavan yelled out for Jihoon to catch her, which caused a fight between Deavan and Jihoon because he felt his wife was “yelling” at him. Deavan’s mother, who accompanied her to South Korea to help her settle into her new life, also got involved in the couple’s spat.

The drama between Deavan, Jihoon and Elicia over the scene with Drascilla sparked major backlash from fans who took sides. After the episode aired, Deavan revealed she, her mother and her daughter were getting death threats from online trolls who felt it was unfair that they blamed Jihoon for Drascilla running off. Meanwhile, Jihoon shared a screenshot of a DM from a troll who urged him to “kill himself” because he was a “bad father.”

Shortly before confirming his breakup with Deavan, Jihoon pleaded with fans to stop sending hateful messages to his family and defended his estranged wife and mother-in-law. “Not everyone is perfect. Me and Deavan, even Elicia, I’m so sorry. But please stop all criticism. Especially Elicia. They’re probably having a harder time than I am,” Jihoon wrote via Instagram on Friday, August 21. “I heard that Elicia and Drascilla [are] under threat of murder. It is 100% wrong. I am begging you guys, I just want peace … I apologize to you guys but thank you so much.”
