Miley Cyrus is stripping down! No, not that kind of stripping (after all, that wouldn’t be that exciting…), we’re talking about a stripped down performance.
5 Reasons Why Miley’s Ren and Stimpy-Inspired Tour Makes Perfect Sense
It was revealed that Miley will get her own MTV Unplugged episode—airing Jan. 29—and to announce the exciting news, MTV put out a pretty interesting promo, with Miley wearing fake teeth and pasties.
Despite the unusual promo, we could not be more excited for Miley to take the Unplugged stage!
Amy Doyle, executive vice president of music and talent programming strategy for MTV already promised that it’ll an incredible experience!
“Miley’s vision for the performance is like nothing we’ve ever seen,” she said in a statement. “I can say that this will easily be one of the most memorable Unplugged performances to date.”

Well, we’re super psyched to see Miley’s vision, but we have our vision too! In fact, there are already a few things that we hope will happen… fingers crossed!
1. Acoustic “We Can’t Stop”
Okay, so of course “Wrecking Ball” would be the obvious choice for a raw, authentic performance… which is why we want to see the best performance of “We Can’t Stop” ever. Who can forget her acoustic performance of the ode to partying on SNL? Unplugged is the perfect opportunity to make it incredible and unforgettable.
2. Crazy Costumes
Traditionally, Unplugged has offered a home-y feel, thanks to the intimate setting and lack of frills. In fact, it would seem most stars even dress themselves in every day street clothes. But if the promo is any indication, that’s one tradition Miley is going to break!
3. Bringing Back Some Old Favorites
According to a statement from MTV, Miley’s Unplugged performance will feature “surprise guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career.” We’re pretty sure Hannah Montana songs are out of the question, but you can’t take about songs that defined her career without hits like “Party in the USA” and “See You Again.”
4. Covering Some Classics
If you haven’t watched Miley’s backyard performance of her Aunt Dolly Parton’s hit “Jolene,” do yourself a favor and watch. There’s no denying girls got some pipes, and haven’t watching this video, you’ll want to see an encore of this performance.
5. Amazing Guest Appearances
Another signature of Unplugged is guest appearances, and we already know that we’re in for some surprises. Considering Miley has worked with so many impressive collaborators lately, we can’t wait to see who shows up!
6. Creative Miley-Style Parodies
There are two things that we love about this ode to corn that Miley posted on her Instagram. The first is that it shows off her serious talent; the other is that it shows off her hysterical sense of humor. This is exactly the kind of antics we hope to see on Jan. 29!
7. No Twerking
We repeat: NO TWERKING!
