Talk about the best of both worlds! For anyone is looking for a scapegoat to pin Miley Cyrus’ dramatic transformation on, the 20-year-old star finally has an answer for you: blame Hannah Montana.
Yes, the eponymous pop star of Miley’s Disney Channel original series.
Miley sat down with Harper’s Bazaar and set the record straight about her recent transformation.
“I took off and I just wanted to party,” she told the mag of when the show wrapped production in 2010. “I worked so hard, and I wanted to buy a house and just chill.”
Miley did exactly that; in 2011, she bought a home that she eventually shared with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
Put simply, Miley explained that her drastic change of behavior, which may shock you, is essentially compensation for the more mature persona she had no option but to adapt when she was younger.
“I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid,” she said. “So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid.”
One of the more physical parts of Miley’s transformation was Miley’s drastic haircut; last year, she shaved off the sides of her hair and bleached the top, short remains a drastic platinum blonde.
But she doesn’t seem as fazed by her dramatic ‘do as critics.
“It changed everyone else’s life more than it changed mine,” she laughed.
Miley also opened up about another part of her life that has been under a lot of speculation recently—whether or not she will actually tie the knot with Liam.
While she didn’t go into details on their relationship, she did say that there will be a wedding—eventually.
“I definitely don’t have time to deal with a wedding right now,” she told the magazine. “but I will at some point.”
And while some may be critical of Miley, and wary of whether or not she should be advising others, the “Wrecking Ball” singer has some word of advice for another young star.
She recently told Justin Bieber to take a break from the spotlight, as to avoid people who are “obsessed.”
“I'm not saying you need to take a break because you're crazy,” she said. “I'm saying you need to take a break so you can be crazy, and people aren't going to judge you.”
