With a total of 19 children, the Duggars are bound to have at least one set of twins — right? Although science was never my strong suit, I feel like that's probably a thing. And if you've ever wondered the same, you're in luck. I did a deep dive into whether or not the famous family has any sets of multiples, and it turns out, they do! So which of the J-named siblings share a special bond?
Well, it may not be who you think. Michelle Duggar, bless her poor soul, was pregnant a total of 21 times. According to Romper — because I don't trust my own math skills — she suffered two miscarriages (her first child prior to Josh and 20th child, Jubilee) and had two sets of twins, which means she was pregnant more often than she gave birth. Yet while one set is easier to guess because of their similar names, the others may be more difficult.
Jana and John David are Michelle and Jim Bob's first set of twins. According to E! News, they were born on Jan. 12, 1990 and are the couple's second and third children. They were conceived shortly after the couple experienced their first miscarriage.
Michelle explained how different her boy/girl set of twins have been since day one, in response to a fan question she answered on TLC's website. "Jana and John, of course being boy and girl, had a lot of differences in that respect, but their personalities were so different, too," Michelle wrote. "One was so laid back and the other one was so energetic and into everything. John David just watched Jana because she had enough energy for both of them."
These days, John David seems to dabble in a little bit of everything — and although not much is known about his day-to-day — we do know he has his pilot's license. In a TLC interview, he spoke about what he hopes for the future. "Future plans would be to, I think, one day, you know, the right one [would] come along and I'd start a family and hopefully be able to invest in their lives and raise up a generation that will be great people for this society." It also sounded like someone may be in his life already. When asked if the 28-year-old was courting, he paused for a long time before adding, "I don't have anybody right now, but I am praying about it. One day, one day. Just keep watching." Hmm — we're onto you, John!
As for Jana? She's still a "concert pianist," aka she's basically unemployed. Many critics of the family have given Jana the nickname "Cinderella Duggar," since she's the eldest daughter who is still single and lives at home.
Michelle and Jim Bob's second set of twins are probably a little easier to guess, just because of how similar their names are: Jedidiah and Jeremiah. The boys — number 10 and 11 in the Duggar line-up — were born on Dec. 30, 1998. In the same TLC interview from 2014, Michelle touched on how the two have distinct personalities as well. "They're the same as Jana and John David [in] that their personalities are almost opposite," she said. "One took off fast, and the other one was more steady and slow. Now they're fifteen and they do things together all the time because they're both boys. They have the same interests and they're really close. Jed and Jer are constantly doing things together. They're almost opposites in personality though."
However, eagle-eyed redditors recently pointed out that the family doesn't go into much detail about Jedidiah and Jeremiah. But to be fair, we don't know much about the younger siblings yet. We have a feeling that'll change once they start courting!
