Double the Fun! The Duggar Family Has More Than 1 Set of Twins, But They’re All Incredibly Unique
With a total of 19 children, the Duggars are bound to have at least one set of twins — right? Believe it or not, the Counting On brood has two!
Jana and John David are Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s first set of twins. They were born on January 12, 1990, and are the couple’s second and third children. They were conceived shortly after the duo experienced their first miscarriage.
Michelle explained how different Jana and John have been since day one in a 2014 interview with TLC. “Of course, being a boy and girl, had a lot of differences in that respect, but their personalities were so different, too,” Michelle wrote. “One was so laid back and the other one was so energetic and into everything. John David just watched Jana because she had enough energy for both of them.”
These days, John David is the proud owner of a pilot’s license and he is still getting adjusted to his new role of being a first-time father. He welcomed a baby girl with wife Abbie Duggar (née Burnett) named Grace Annette in January 2020.
As for Jana? She is enjoying her single life and still lives at her parents’ home. Back in January 2019, Jana told fans she had the choice to move to another room, but liked sharing a room with her sisters.
“The evenings are the best. We sit around talking and catching up on each others’ [days],” she wrote via Instagram. The reality star also has a passion for drawing and gardening!
Michelle and Jim Bob’s second set of twins are probably a little easier to guess, just because of how similar their names are: Jedidiah and Jeremiah. The boys — number 10 and 11 in the Duggar line-up — were born on December 30, 1998.
“They’re the same as Jana and John David [in] that their personalities are almost opposite,” Michelle previously said in the same TLC interview. “One took off fast, and the other one was more steady and slow. Now they’re fifteen and they do things together all the time because they’re both boys. They have the same interests and they’re really close. Jed and Jer are constantly doing things together. They’re almost opposites in personality though.”
So, what’s new for the twin boys? Jed and Jer revealed they moved out of their mom and dad’s house in the July 21 episode of Counting On.
“We had some visitors over, our brothers, and they ended up cooking the meal for us,” Jed quipped. “Me and Jer aren’t married, so we don’t know everything about cooking. We’re gonna have to get better at that. Or just get married. One of the two.”
