‘Teen Mom OG’ Stars Mackenzie McKee and Josh McKee Have Had a Whirlwind Relationship

2009

Josh and Mackenzie, 25, began dating in 2009. They were both young at the time, and things got really serious, really fast for the couple.

2011

The duo appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2011 when she was pregnant with their first child. On September 12, 2011, she gave birth to a baby boy — Gannon.

Mackenzie went on to appear on Teen Mom 3, but it didn’t last. The show was canceled after one season in 2013.

At the beginning of the series, however, viewers learned that Mackenzie and Josh were engaged.

The high school sweethearts tied the knot on August 17, 2013. For a while, it seemed like maybe things would work out for the two of them.

February 2014

They welcomed another baby on February 7, 2014. Mackenzie gave birth to a girl named Jaxie Taylor — her only daughter.

August 2016

In August 2016, the couple became parents for a third time. They welcomed baby Broncs on August 15. On his third birthday, his mom wrote on Instagram, “Happy 3rd birthday to my baby boy. I love you so much Broncs Weston.”

Unfortunately, Mackenzie’s mom, Angie Douthit, was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer in January 2018. “The most amazing woman I know,” Mackenzie wrote on Twitter at the time.” She taught me everything I know. She is the only reason I am the woman I am today. I love you, Mom. I’m devastated, I’m angry, I’m shook, I can’t breathe. You are everything.”

The couple officially joined Teen Mom OG in early August 2019, and fans were excited to catch up on their lives since they were last on Teen Mom 3. But Angie’s cancer diagnosis was definitely part of their story.

Sadly, things went from bad to worse. On August 16, 2019, Mackenzie took to social media to share that she and her husband had split after six years of marriage.

“However I would like to say, that due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc. I am deciding my marriage needs a break,” Mackenzie wrote on August 16. “My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what’s best. Thank you.”

On August 17, she slammed Josh during an interview with Us Weekly. “Turns out, Josh is not a good man whatsoever,” she said. “Watching the show and catching him in lies, seeing how independent he is, I realize I deserve better. I have fought for this marriage for many years, and lately, I’ve really opened my eyes to what a horrible person he is.”

This was after Mackenzie had expressed fears that her husband had cheated on her.

Second chance? On September 26, 2019, Mackenzie posted something that raised eyebrows about the status of their relationship. “If I was ever dumb enough to be with Josh, he has to start from scratch,” she wrote on Twitter. “Fight for me, ask me to be his GF, propose, then marry me. And if that’s another man first then that’s how it was supposed to be.”

Despite that, the couple was definitely considering divorce. Mackenzie confirmed in early October that she filed the paperwork to officially end their marriage.

It seems like starting over for this couple was in the cards after all. On October 24, the reality star wrote on Instagram, “This man …. I will never forget my 25th birthday. 6 hours of opening up clues and going on a scavenger hunt. Even putting on a dress you picked out. I still can’t believe the work God has done. My ring is beautiful and I choose you over and over. Here’s to new beginnings in Christ. #youdonthavetounderstandourlovestory.”

The couple were still together when Mackenzie’s mom’s died in December 2019, but the cheerleading coach later revealed Angie’s death led to a major rough patch.

In April, the subject of divorce still seemed to be on her mind. Speaking exclusively to In Touch, she revealed she would’ve left her marriage “a long time ago” if she and her husband didn’t share any kids. “My family has [never] seen [a] divorce,” she said. “I’m not saying that put pressure on me, but it’s just generations and generations. I would be the first [to] split up [a] family.”

One month later, the blonde beauty called out her estranged husband in a public post as she declared herself single. “Obviously, the world knows Josh had an affair last year, and then months later … promising he changed and got ‘saved.’ It really made my mom happy and I chose to forgive and trust God,” she wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post. She explained that, when her mom passed away, Josh started spending long days at work and nights fishing away from home.

On May 18, she eventually decided to “pull Josh’s call and text logs” and discovered that he’d been “texting a woman [300]-600 times per month and calling her on these nights he was ‘fishing’ until 3 a.m.” Initially, she thought he was having an affair — and she later learned that he was actually speaking with her cousin, though the contact was completely platonic.

On Twitter, she clarified that nothing sexual took place — but still considered the relationship to be completely inappropriate. “Josh was texting and calling her for advice on how to handle me,” she wrote. “To me, that was wrong on both ends and enough to walk away.”

Despite the drama, the mom of three called her ex her “best friend for life” when they took their kids to the water park together. They may not work as romantic partners, but it’s clear the stars are still important to each other.

She further emphasized that they’ll always be in each other’s lives when she posted about what would’ve been their seventh wedding anniversary. “We get along,” she told fans who asked why they were honoring the day. “We have kids together and make great friends, if you ask me. Nothing more, nothing less.”

Nearly two years after giving their relationship another try, Mackenzie confirmed via Instagram that she and Josh had once again split up.

She spoke to Celebuzz about the breakup, saying she was “stepping into an entire new life and new me.”

Mackenzie explained that she was “thankful” for her 12-year relationship with Josh, but has decided it’s time to move on.
“Josh and I are both still young with an entire life ahead of us,” the Florida resident said. “And I wish nothing but peace and happiness for him and his future. Everyone has their own story, and this is mine.”
