‘Teen Mom OG’ Star Mackenzie McKee’s Mom Angie Douthit Stops Cancer Treatments

Sad News

It’s been a long and arduous road for Mackenzie’s mom, Angie, amid her health struggles. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Angie’s cancer returned with five inoperable masses in her brain and a large mass on her lung.

Prognosis Revealed

Unfortunately, on the latest episode of Teen Mom OG, Angie admitted that her doctors said she only had about six months left to live. “I wanted to tell you I was better. But they told me that it’s in both femurs,” she began.

Cancer Battle

Angie continued, “It’s in my breast bone; it’s in my hip bones; this backbone that’s attached to your hip bone, it’s back there; it’s half of my liver. It’s in the lymph nodes of my colon and the lymph nodes in my lungs. I have another tumor in my head.”

Strength and Bravery

“He said six months would be really, really pushing it. The doctors know they can’t do anything about this, really,” she concluded.

Giving an Update

Now, Mackenzie, 24, is opening up about her mother’s prognosis in a new interview with Radar published on Wednesday, August 21. “We just got the news yesterday that her blood counts are too low to continue with chemo,” the mother of three shared.

Cherishing Every Moment

“There has been no miracle, but she is still with us,” Mackenzie added.

Tough Times

Mackenzie and her estranged husband, Josh McKee, told their children Gannon, 7, Jaxie, 5, and Broncs, 3, the news about their grandmother during one emotional scene on a recent episode.

Calling It Quits

Just last week, the reality star also shared some surprising news about her marriage, revealing that she and Josh were splitting after six years together. Mackenzie took to Twitter to confirm they were parting ways on Friday, August 16.

Moving Forward

“I would like to say, that due to stress, me needing to stay focused, the media, etc. I am deciding my marriage needs a break,” she wrote. “My heart breaks for my kids. But as of right now, this is what’s best. Thank you.”

Facing Obstacles

When one fan addressed how it came as a shock since the couple seemed to be solid, Mackenzie said she was still on good terms with her ex. “We were truly best friends. It’s all just devastating,” the MTV alum revealed.

Prior to that, Mackenzie mentioned how much she celebrates having Angie in her life in a sweet message shared on social media.

“Waking up at 5:00 a.m. to such an encouraging random text from my momma @angiedouthit I’d be so lost without you,” she wrote. “I will cherish these simple things forever.”

A Mother’s Love

Angie replied, “Love u strong one!” It’s obvious the two are extremely close, as Mackenzie even broke down in tears when she discussed her mom’s health struggles on the show.

Breaking Down

“You were the glue that was holding it all together,” Mackenzie said about her mother, while getting visibly emotional.

“And when that glue melts … I feel like I’m going to fall apart,” the reality star confessed.
