90 Day Fiance’s Jorge Nava Reacts to Estranged Wife Anfisa’s New Boyfriend: ‘I Wish Him the Best’
Unbothered! Jorge Nava isn’t letting the fact that estranged wife Anfisa Nava moved on so quickly get to him. Instead, while speaking exclusively with In Touch, the 90 Day Fiancé star shares only support for Leo Assaf, his ex’s new boyfriend. “I wish him the best with his new relationship,” he says.
The Happily Ever After alum, who spoke to In Touch through Brad Rideout, a managing partner, attorney-at-law at Rideout Law Group, didn’t hear about Leo from his ex. Instead, he shares he’s “getting some information from [his] family.” But he doesn’t know all that much. “I know about him,” Jorge, 31, says. “[But] I don’t know what he looks like, and I don’t really care what he looks like.”
He’s not sweating the comparisons fans are making between the two men — though he does suspect looks played a part in the downfall of his marriage. In a previous interview, he claimed his 128-lb weight loss led to a fallout between the couple. “I think she was just jealous of the attention that I was getting,” he told In Touch. “The news about my weight loss didn’t sit with her very well.”
After being arrested for possession of almost 300 lbs of marijuana in February 2018, the TLC star began a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence in September 2018. After more than a year behind bars, photos showing his transformation hit the internet, and fans pretty much lost their minds. A mugshot released in November 2019 and an Instagram photo posted in March 2020 showed just how much Jorge has slimmed down. “Holy s–t!! You came out a new and improved person,” one fan commented on the social media post. “Revenge body on deck!” another wrote. “New Jorge, who dis,” joked a third.
But while the newly-fit reality personality is proud of the work he’s put in and the weight he’s lost, he suspects it drove a wedge between him and his wife. “At that very moment in time, that’s when she blocked my phone calls, and I kind of was starting to lose contact with her,” he said. “She did tell me, like, right off the bat, like, the day after, that she didn’t want anything to do with me and that it was over.”
Anfisa, 24, sees their split as the result of several months worth of issues that started even before Jorge’s prison sentence began. “I wanted to put our issues aside and stay by his side and support him in this difficult situation,” she told In Touch in early April. “However, the whole time I felt like I had a weight on my shoulders that wouldn’t let me be happy. I knew I had to end it and it would be better for the both of us, so Jorge and I talked about it and mutually decided to part ways a few months ago.”
