‘Welcome to Plathville’ Star Olivia Plath Says She Was ‘Manipulated’ Into Doing the Show

She’s definitely her own person. Olivia Plath from Welcome to Plathville seemingly shook up the lives of the Plath family when she married the oldest son, Ethan Plath. But what do we really know about Olivia?

Who Is Olivia Plath?

Olivia, 21, is the wife of Ethan, also 21. She was raised in a similar strict, fundamentally religious family, but now has her own views that don’t align as closely with what Barry and Kim Plath are trying to instill in their kids.

On the November 12 episode of Welcome to Plathville, Olivia had plans to bring Ethan’s sister Moriah Plath on a trip with her to California, but explained, “When I approached Kim about it she was very hesitant because they don’t trust me and they don’t trust Moriah. They know I have different values and different priorities than them.”

What Does Olivia Plath Do For a Living?

Olivia is a photographer. She shoots a lot of weddings, which is obvious if you take one look at her Instagram profile. She also went to California with Moriah, 16, specifically to take photos at a wedding there.

Does Olivia Plath Like Being on Welcome to Plathville?

It doesn’t seem like Olivia enjoys being on the TLC series. In the season finale of the show, Moriah revealed that Olivia bought her a ticket to Minnesota to help shoot a wedding and that it was a one-way ticket, which seemed to surprise her parents. But Olivia told critical fans on Twitter that’s not how the situation actually went down.

“Thanks to those who were concerned about my character, calling me a witch and poison,” Olivia tweeted on December 11. “Truth? I’d NEVER buy a plane ticket for a minor without asking their parents, regardless of how I feel about said parents. I had permission. But I guess that’s not a dramatic enough storyline 😅😂.”

Olivia even went on a social media hiatus because of all the backlash she got from being on the reality show. “Just wanted to get on here real quick and let everyone know that I’m taking an Instagram break. I won’t be answering any DM’s, comments, or posting content until January,” the photographer wrote on December 13.

“I’ve received so much hate on all of my platforms since our show aired, and while I know that is just part of being in this industry, I don’t need to be seeing that negativity and toxicity every day,” she added. “I made many mistakes during the filming of the show (the first one being allowing myself to be manipulated into doing it), and I’m not afraid to own up to that. But until you’ve dealt with narcissist behavior, you have no idea how easy it is to freak out and react in an effort to protect yourself and those you love.”

She later revealed in the comments of that post that she and Ethan only did the show as a way to see his younger brothers and sisters. “When TLC didn’t want it unless Ethan and I were on it, his parents told me if we filmed with them Ethan could see his siblings again. So we said yes,” she wrote.

In other words, if there are any more episodes of the show, it’s not a given that Olivia will make an appearance!
