After months of speculation, TLC confirmed the show would be coming back for a second season when the network released the first trailer on September 27.

The sneak peek teased tons of drama for the big brood. Micah Plath‘s modeling career seems to be taking off as he was shown stripping down to his underwear for a sexy photoshoot, which may pose a problem for his strict parents.

As for rebel child Moriah, she returned home to the family’s farm in Southern Georgia and she brought her new boyfriend back with her to meet her parents. Meanwhile, Ethan Plath admitted he and his wife, Olivia Plath were “going through a tough point in our relationship.” In another scene, Olivia told Ethan, “I feel trapped here.” In a confessional, Ethan opened up about how his family’s upbringing was affecting him as an adult. “I really don’t think any of us were given a type of toolset to handle emotions,” he said.

In the last scene, the older Plath children sat down at a table with father Barry Plath and mom Kim Plath to confront them about the way they were brought up. “I want to know why y’all hadn’t talked to us when we were 13, 14, not wait till we’re 19,” Micah told his parents. “We raised you the best that we knew how,” Kim explained.

Do the Plaths Want a Season 2?

Some of the family members were clearly eager to return to TV. Micah took to Instagram on December 11 and wrote, “Y’all let’s hope for another season!! I have grown and matured since this last one! I’m just becoming the true Micah!”

His sister Moriah, on the other hand, seemed a little more ambivalent. “This past season was a crazy time in our lives, but I just hope that every step we take will lead us closer to who we are meant to be,” she wrote on the social media platform on December 11. “And a very special thank you to all our fans! … y’all deserve one.”

Will Ethan and Olivia Plath Return for Season 2 of Welcome to Plathville?

The biggest holdout for a second season of the TLC show may be Olivia. She pretty infamously feuded with husband Ethan’s parents on the show which brought a ton of backlash online. After revealing the hate she had been receiving on Instagram as the show aired, she announced she would be taking a break from social media.

“Just wanted to get on here real quick and let everyone know that I’m taking an Instagram break. I won’t be answering any DM’s, comments, or posting content until January,” the photographer wrote on December 13. “I’ve received so much hate on all of my platforms since our show aired, and while I know that is just part of being in this industry, I don’t need to be seeing that negativity and toxicity every day. I’m a strong person, not necessarily because I was born that way, but because life was hard and I learned to stand up for myself and others. Bullies and narcissists don’t phase me, and if I see someone I love being hurt or abused, it is not in my nature to stay silent.”

She also revealed that she and Ethan only did the show to spend time with his brothers and sisters. “When TLC didn’t want it unless Ethan and I were on it, his parents told me if we filmed with them Ethan could see his siblings again,” she said in an Instagram comment. “So we said yes.” It doesn’t sound like she was especially enthusiastic to do it in the first place …

But judging from the teaser clip, it seems Ethan and Olivia will be participating in season 2 after all.
