It’s up in the air. Welcome to Plathville only got a six-episode order on TLC, and the season finale just aired on December 10. But fans are already clamoring for a season 2, especially after the cliffhanger about Moriah Plath leaving for Minnesota. Did the series get a second season?
Will There Be a Welcome to Plathville Season 2?
It’s unclear just yet whether or not the reality show will be renewed. The first season just finished airing, and TLC likely needs some time to determine if it’s worth it to bring the whole Plath family back for more episodes.
The good news is, the show seemed popular and ended on a cliffhanger. That could suggest that producers were definitely interested in continuing the story of the Plaths beyond one season.
Do the Plaths Want a Season 2?
Some of the family members are clearly eager to return to TV. One of the show’s stars, Micah Plath, wrote on Instagram on December 11, “Y’all let’s hope for another season!! I have grown and matured since this last one! I’m just becoming the true Micah!😁”
His sister Moriah, on the other hand, seems a little more ambivalent. “This past season was a crazy time in our lives, but I just hope that every step we take will lead us closer to who we are meant to be,” she wrote on the social media platform on December 11. “And a very special thank you to all our fans! … y’all deserve one❤️.”
Will Ethan and Olivia Plath Return for Season 2 of Welcome to Plathville?
The biggest holdout for a second season of the TLC show may be Olivia Plath. She pretty infamously feuded with husband Ethan Plath‘s parents on the show. Olivia recently admitted on Instagram that she got a lot of hate after the series aired — so much so that she decided to take a break from social media.
“Just wanted to get on here real quick and let everyone know that I’m taking an Instagram break. I won’t be answering any DM’s, comments, or posting content until January,” the photographer wrote on December 13. “I’ve received so much hate on all of my platforms since our show aired, and while I know that is just part of being in this industry, I don’t need to be seeing that negativity and toxicity every day. I’m a strong person, not necessarily because I was born that way, but because life was hard and I learned to stand up for myself and others. Bullies and narcissists don’t phase me, and if I see someone I love being hurt or abused, it is not in my nature to stay silent.”
She also revealed that she and Ethan, 21, only did the show to spend time with his brothers and sisters. “When TLC didn’t want it unless Ethan and I were on it, his parents told me if we filmed with them Ethan could see his siblings again,” she said in an Instagram comment. “So we said yes.” It doesn’t sound like she was especially enthusiastic to do it in the first place …
