On July 4, the couple got into an argument over a fireworks show, and the situation escalated. According to the Affidavit for Probable Cause obtained by The Ashley, Amber, 29, threw a shoe and a machete against her boyfriend as well as threatening suicide. “Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood made him feel like he ‘dropped the ball’ on plans to see fireworks because the roads were block,” read the documents. “Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood then bashed his character.”

Getting Dangerous
Andrew dropped Amber off at home, and then he drove around with his son to give Amber a chance to “cool off.” However, when he returned, the pair started fighting again, according to the report. “Mr. Glennon stated when he got inside the home, Ms. Portwood grabbed a shoe off the shoe rack and hit him with it,” read the court documents. “Mr. Glennon stated he was holding [the baby], and he turned to the side to avoid [the baby] getting hit with the shoe.”

Andrew then left for about three hours with the baby, but when he returned home, “Ms. Portwood was coming at him like she was going to hit him.” The court documents read, “Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood told him to put [the baby] down. Mr. Glennon stated [the baby] was crying and upset, and he was not going to put him down.”

No Talking
The MTV personality was released from jail on July 6 — one day after her arrest — but her boyfriend has a no-contact order against Amber, meaning that the mom of two can’t reach out to Andrew face-to-face or through technology. On July 9, Andrew filed for emergency sole custody of James.

It’s for the Best
“Father believes it is in James’ best interests that he be awarded sole legal and primary physical custody,” the court papers read. “Father believes that it is not currently in James’ best interests for Mother to have unsupervised parenting time.”

Mommy’s Here
However, it seems like Amber was able to interact with her tot on July 18. “She saw the baby on Thursday,” a source told Radar Online. “The visits are from James to be able to see his mom.”

Missing Him
A second insider explained that the July 18 visit was the first time the brunette beauty saw her son since she was arrested.

Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time Amber has gotten physically violent, either. In the past, she allegedly abused her ex Matt Baier.

Repeat Offender
Amber also attacked her ex Gary Shirley — the two share daughter Leah, 10. “If I were to change anything [about our relationship] … I would have walked away a lot sooner,” Gary exclusively told In Touch in 2017.

Sibling Love
But Amber’s brother, Shawn, appears to have her back. “Stay tuned for the surprise ending. Everything’s not always all it’s cracked up to be,” he posted on July 9 on Twitter. After one person commented how the surprise must be that she allegedly used a “flip flop and machete,” Shawn clapped back.

More to the Story?
“That’s not true at all,” he wrote. “You guys are jumping to conclusions that based off of what one person is said. But there is evidence to prove that she did not do that.” Another fan asked him what proof he had. “I’m not saying I don’t trust her, but I don’t go based off of word,” he said. “I go based of facts and evidence. And right now, the evidence that I know of does not indicate anything about what was said she did.”

Real Issues
Amber has also been transparent about her struggles with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder on Teen Mom OG. “I also feel the bipolar. If I wake up in the morning, I know damn well if that’s going to be, I’m cleaning the damn house all day or I’m going to be in bed,” she said during a therapy session with Andrew. But it’s unclear if the incident is related to her mental health problems.

Up and Down
She continued, “I haven’t really been doing very well when it comes to mood swings. Any little thing, tiny, tiny thing, will enrage me.”

He Said, She Said
Shawn also addressed his sister’s bipolar disorder on social media. “She does have some mental issues, and I’m not defending her mental issues and attitude. I’m defending the fact that she didn’t do everything that they said she did,” he wrote. “Evidence will come out to prove otherwise.”

What If?
Amber revealed she wishes her brain worked differently, too. “I’d do anything to be normal. I love this man more than anything, and he treats me really well, and I feel like I’m just a bad person sometimes.”

What Will Happen Next?
It seems like the couple was in a good place before this all happened as they were talking about the future. “He has spoken about marriage on numerous occasions and has even mentioned a list of possible wedding destinations to the MTV production team in the past,” a source told Us Weekly. “His friends have attested to his faithfulness and genuine interactions with Amber often.” Hmm … well, whatever happened, we hope these two can work things out.
