Since Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood was arrested for domestic battery on July 5, details have slowly started to emerge about exactly what went down. Given the news that the star’s boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, had filed for emergency custody of their son, the circumstances seemed dire — and now they may be worse than any expected. Because according to reports, Amber, 29, allegedly wielded a machete during the altercation, using it to hack a door which Andrew was hiding behind. Weapons at Play
According to the Affidavit for Probable Cause obtained by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Amber wielded a shoe and a machete against her boyfriend as well as threatening suicide, but it all started with a 4th of July fireworks show. The couple started fighting after they went to see the lights display, only to discover the roads were blocked.

Out on Bail
Though the star was released from jail on Saturday, July 6, just one day after her arrest, the legal battle is ongoing. In addition to the two felony charges, as well as one misdemeanor charge, Andrew also has a no-contact order against Amber.

No Contact
The reality star’s boyfriend filed a motion for the order on Tuesday, July 9, and on Wednesday, July 10, it was granted by a judge, meaning that the Teen Mom celeb can’t reach out to her boyfriend face to face or through technology.

Co-Parenting
That may also affect her relationship with her son. On July 9, Andrew also filed for emergency sole custody of James. It’s not clear yet whether Amber would be allowed visitations if he wins.

Mental Health Struggles
Though the incident may be related to Amber’s ongoing battle with her mental health, something she’s opened up about struggling with on the show, this isn’t her first domestic violence incident. In the past, she faced allegations that she had gotten physically violent with her ex Matt Baier.

Troubled Past
Amber’s arrest record also includes domestic violence incidences in which she attacked ex Gary Shirley with whom she shares daughter Leah. “If I were to change anything [about our relationship] … I would have walked away a lot sooner,” Gary exclusively told In Touch in 2017.

Leaving
Fans suspect Andrew may now be ready to walk away, too. In addition to filing for sole custody, he also wasn’t the one to post Amber’s bail. Whatever happens, we hope that he and James continue to stay safe.
