A week after he filed for emergency custody, Teen Mom OG‘s Andrew Glennon is now filing for sole custody. On the 4th of July, the star’s relationship with girlfriend Amber Portwood seemed to explode after a domestic violence incident that involved their son, James. Though the television producer has filed a no-contact order against his girlfriend, he wants to make sure that his son is protected, too. According to Radar Online, court documents show that he’s asking for sole legal custody — but that’s not all. Check out the gallery below to get the latest update on Andrew and Amber’s custody battle.
Over the holiday, the couple butted heads over a fireworks show, and the situation escalated to the point that Amber, 29, was arrested for domestic battery. On July 5, she was taken into custody on felony charges.

Scary Situation
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, who obtained the Affidavit for Probable Cause, that assault included weapons. The documents explained just how the fight broke out as well, alleging that it started because Amber discovered the roads to the fireworks show were closed.

Aggravation
Andrew took their son, James, to ride around in the car while he gave Amber time to cool off. But when he returned, she was still upset. The second that the father and son walked through the door, she started in again.

They left again, but when they came back, Amber threatened to hit her boyfriend and then brandished a machete. “Mr. Glennon stated Ms. Portwood picked up a machete … Mr. Glennon stated he locked himself and [the baby] into the office.”

Custody Fight
That’s when the courts start to come into play. On Tuesday, July 9, the father filed for emergency custody of his son. A paternity test was ordered to guarantee that he is James’ father, and then custody could be granted.

Legal Battle
Now, he’s petitioning for sole legal custody and primary physical custody because he doesn’t think Amber should be raising their son. “Father believes it is in James’ best interests,” read the court papers obtained by Radar.

Supervision
Though he’s willing to let Amber see James, he doesn’t want it to happen without some kind of chaperone. “Father believes that it is not currently in James’ best interests for Mother to have unsupervised parenting time,” the docs continue.

Financial Support
In addition to filing for custody, he’s also requested child support from Amber, as well as insurance and payment of medical expenses. In the paperwork, he noted his girlfriend’s history of violence.

Serious Concerns
“Father believes Mother is currently unable to provide a safe, stable and secure environment for James on an ongoing basis due to her frequent refusal and/or failure to take medicines prescribed to treat her mental-health conditions, among other concerns,” say the documents.

Legal Involvement
For now, the Department of Child Services seems to be on Andrew’s side. “DCS informed Father that they intended to file a Child in Need of Services case … that Father was not to permit Mother to have unsupervised contact with James.”

Defensive Dad
They even took it a step further than that. According to the paperwork, DCS said they would “recommend to Juvenile Court that James be placed in Father’s custody.”

Battling It Out
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the court decides, but not everyone is on Andrew’s side. Amber’s brother has publicly spoken out on her behalf. “Stay tuned for the surprise ending,” he tweeted. “Everything’s not always all it’s cracked up to be.”
