It was a surprise even to them. Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson announce they’re pregnant on the November 12 episode of Counting On, just days after they had their first baby — who Lauren is pregnant with on the show — in real life. The couple revealed during the episode that they were definitely attempting to conceive again after experiencing a miscarriage with their first pregnancy. “We had been trying for quite a while after the miscarriage, and when we found out we were expecting, literally we were shocked,” Lauren, 20, confessed. “I couldn’t believe it and just cried.”

The reality TV star continued on the show, “We were scared, but life is very precious and we are so thankful for this. We may be a little nervous at times, but we’re just going to be grateful.”

Josiah, 23, and Lauren welcomed their healthy baby girl on Friday, November 8, just over a year after they went through a miscarriage. “After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived,” the couple shared with Us Weekly.” “When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro, all the pain instantly went away. We can’t believe she is ours — she is so perfect! She definitely has lived up to her name, which means ‘beautiful miracle.’ Today we are basking in God’s goodness!”

Back in February, the couple let fans know they had suffered a miscarriage in October 2018. “A couple of months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren revealed in a clip on TLC’s website. Josiah added, “It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.”

Thankfully, they now have their little girl to cherish after their loss. It sounds like Lauren gave birth at the hospital rather than at home, like many of Josiah’s sisters tried to do. We hope that everything went smoothly, and the couple is able to enjoy adjusting to becoming a family of three — not counting Josiah’s huge family, whose members are probably overjoyed to finally meet their baby girl, too.
