Josiah Duggar’s Wife Lauren Swanson Gives Birth to a Healthy Baby Girl Following Miscarriage
Congrats! Josiah Duggar and his wife, Lauren Swanson, welcomed a healthy baby girl on Friday, November 8, just over one year after suffering a devastating miscarriage. Announcing they named her Bella Milagro, the Counting On stars shared the happy news with Us Weekly.
“After a long and difficult labor, our girl arrived,” the couple said. “When we finally got to see and hold our precious Bella Milagro, all the pain instantly went away. We can’t believe she is ours — she is so perfect! She definitely has lived up to her name, which means ‘beautiful miracle.’ Today we are basking in God’s goodness!” Sharing a photo of their little one, the new parents revealed that she weighs 6 pounds and 5 ounces and is 18.5 inches long.
In February 2019, the couple revealed they lost their firstborn, whom they were going to name Asa, in October 2018. “A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren, 20, said in a clip posted to TLC at the time. Josiah, 23, added, “It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.” The pair wanted to tell their story because “nobody really talks about it,” she said. “We just wanted to let y’all know that you’re not alone.”
In May, the reality stars announced Lauren was pregnant for the second time. “We are so excited to announce that baby No. 2 is on the way!!!!” they shared on Instagram. “It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift! So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good!” On the post, they added the hashtags “#MiraclesDoHappen, #babynumber2, #rainbowbaby” and “#DaddyandMamaof2blessings.”
Fans quickly rallied around the stars and shared messages of support. “OMG, congratulations!!!!! I am so happy for you guys. I’m, like, Counting On‘s biggest fan!!” one person wrote. Another shared their own personal story about loss, writing, “I am so excited for y’all! I have been there losing a baby. We are still trying for our rainbow. I’m so happy to see y’all are having your rainbow. Congratulations!”
Just recently, Lauren was spotted showing off her baby bump in a minidress during a picnic date with Josiah and gushed over her daughter. “Feeling so extremely thankful to carry such a precious gift!” she wrote. “Can’t believe that l will finally get to hold my baby in my arms before too long!” And we can’t believe she’s finally here!
