Just four months after their wedding, Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson suffered a devastating miscarriage. The Counting On stars, 22 and 19 respectively, revealed the news on Monday, February 11, via TLC.

“A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Lauren revealed in the clip. Josiah added, “It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes.”

The pair, who got married in June, wanted to tell their story because “nobody really talks about it,” she said. “We just wanted to let y’all know that you’re not alone.” Watch the video above for more details, and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Many of yall don't know this, but a couple of months ago we found out we were expecting, however, soon after we miscarried. At first, we kind of wanted to just stay quiet about the news, but knew that since everyone is anticipating for us to announce that were having a baby, we felt like it was time that we told everyone that our first and only baby is in heaven. It is hard to hear when people asks us if we are expecting, when we only recently lost our baby. You can imagine it was devastating to the both of us. Our expectations of setting up a baby room, hearing the heart beat, feeling the baby's first kick in mommys tummy, holding our little one and getting to to see our precious baby were – Shattered. Gone. Right before our eyes. Even though our sweet child is no longer with us, it is such a comfort to know that one day we will get to see our baby in Heaven! To the ones who have gone through this, I know your pain. It’s real and terrible. I just want you to know you don’t have to suffer in pain alone. It is not your fault. We greatly appreciate your prayers as we go through this hard time! Love, -Josiah and Lauren #countingon #TLC #miscarriage #ourbabyisafeinthearmsofjesus

Fans immediately shared their condolences after Counting On‘s Facebook page posted the news. “So sorry for your loss,” one person wrote. “Praying for a rainbow baby soon.” Another added, “Extremely sad no matter how you look at it. It doesn’t matter if she’s young and can try again … she lost a child. May God bless her with a rainbow.” A third said, “Every life no matter how long or short is valuable and changed the world for someone in some way. So sorry for your loss.”

Their experience will be shown on the upcoming season of the show, and TLC revealed a sneak peek of the episode. “I couldn’t believe it, and I was hoping it wasn’t true,” Lauren said through tears. “It was the worst day of my life, really.”

Our thoughts go out to Lauren, Josiah and the rest of the Duggars during this difficult time.

The Season 4 premiere of Counting On airs on TLC Monday, February 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
