The whole family is affected by this. Jenelle Evans and David Eason are still fighting to regain custody of their kids, and on Thursday, June 27, several of those children headed to the courthouse for another hearing on the matter. Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, accompanied them. Check out the gallery below to see the couple headed to court and the kids following them in with their guardian.
Jenelle, 27, and David, 31, have been pleading their case to regain custody of their children since CPS stepped in to remove the children from their home. Just this week, the former Teen Mom 2 couple were spotted leaving Columbus County Court together on Tuesday, June 25, after another courthouse appearance.

Removed
In May, a judge signed off an order to have their kids removed from their care. Kaiser, 4, whom Jenelle shares with ex Nathan Griffith, is now under his care. Maryssa, 11, has been staying with her maternal grandmother. Finally, Ensley — their only child together — has been in the care of Barb, along with Jenelle’s son Jace, whom her mother already had custody of before this custody battle began.

RIP Nugget
The Teen Mom franchise stars lost temporary custody of their children after David killed the family dog Nugget because he snapped at 2-year-old Ensley. Jenelle confirmed that her husband shot Nugget in the woods about two acres away from their property.

Defense
David later defended his decision to kill the pup. “I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face. … Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog, and I don’t put up with that s–t at all,” he wrote.

His “Mission”
“I’m all about protecting my family,” he continued. “It is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for, and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want, but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively.”

Fired
The incident resulted in Jenelle being fired from Teen Mom 2. Back At It
Now, the duo is working hard to get their kids back, and on June 27, they returned to court. Jenelle wore a red blazer and black pants for the hearing along with a pair of black heels. David wore a blue blazer and a tie. They both seemed stoic on the walk in and didn’t speak to a videographer who was on the scene.

Long Process
An insider previously told the outlet that the custody battle could go on “for months.” “Today was a pre-adjudication hearing,” the source explained on June 25. “Then there will be an adjudication hearing and an outcome.” So this could be a very long process for the family. An insider told Radar in late May, “Jenelle has no idea when she’ll get them back.”

Seeing the Kids
The outlet reported that in previous hearings, “The judge heard testimony that David and Jenelle were constantly screaming and arguing, and the children were terrified.” Now, “Jenelle can have supervised visits with her children,” an insider revealed. “She can see each child once a week for an hour a day.”

It Got Heated
After a different court hearing, Jenelle spoke out about a heated exchange with her mother that was captured on video. In the clip, Us Weekly reported that Jenelle said to her mom outside of court on June 4, “I’m right outside the courthouse, giving my daughter a hug. If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously, she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.” Barbara then claimed that Jenelle’s behavior was only for the cameras.

“Destroyed”
“I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point,” Jenelle told the outlet after the early June court appearance. “This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter. She fights so hard for my sister and my brother when they are the ones with major issues, not me.”

“Fun Day Out”
No matter how the reality star feels about her at the moment, Barb is the one taking care of several of Jenelle’s kids for now, and they seem to be doing well in her care. On June 1, she took Jace and Ensley to the beach for a fun day out. “Having fun at Coast Guard Day, eating hot dogs, frozen ice, and learning about rescue equipment,” she wrote beside a photo of the children.

As these court hearings continue, we will likely see more of Barb accompanying the grandchildren she has custody of as their parents fight to get them back. Meanwhile, Jenelle keeps posting throwback photos of her kids as the custody battle continues. On June 18, she shared a shot of David with Ensley and wrote, “#MemoriesNeverFade 💓👧🏻.”
