This is so sad. Teen Mom OG alum Jenelle Evans spoke out after a heated exchange with her mother, Barbara Evans, was captured on video, and said that her relationship with her mom is “destroyed at this point,” Us Weekly reported. The two were seen arguing outside of a North Carolina courthouse on Tuesday, June 4, in the midst of Jenelle’s battle to get custody of her kids. Scroll through the gallery below to learn more.

Jenelle’s son Jace, as well as the daughter she shares with David — Ensley — are currently with Jenelle’s mom, Barbara. Jenelle’s son Kaiser is reportedly with his father Nathan Griffith, and David’s daughter Maryssa is apparently with her maternal grandmother.

Why It Happened

David, 30, and Jenelle lost custody of their kids after David was accused of killing his wife’s dog, Nugget. He admitted to shooting the dog and claimed that he did so because Nugget nipped at their daughter.

David insisted that he was just protecting his kids. “I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face. … Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog, and I don’t put up with that s–t at all,” the Teen Mom husband said on May 1.

“I’m all about protecting my family,” he continued. “It is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for, and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want, but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge [whether] or not [an] animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”

Dangerous Acts

Someone filed a complaint after the incident, which eventually led to CPS investigating. The person apparently claimed they believed the children who were in the home at the time of the horrific incident “could develop PTSD, depression or other mental health illnesses from witnessing dangerous acts” such as the murder of their dog.

Now that the kids have been taken away, the couple — Jenelle in particular — are trying to get them back. But apparently after the most recent court visit, Jenelle got into quite the argument with the woman who is taking care of two of those children at the moment: her own mother.

The Teen Mom star continued, “If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously, she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.” Barbara replied that the little girl would “go hungry” since she only had half an hour to get her lunch, and said at one point, “It’s only for the cameras,” Us Weekly reported.

As for the ongoing custody battle, Jenelle told Us, “There’s a lot of progress made on our behalf and [we] have to wait until our next court date as of now.” She noted that “All children are involved in this case, not just one or the other. In the end, either the three children will come home that live with us primarily [or not].”
