One day at a time. Duane “Dog” Chapman is dedicating himself to work in the wake of Beth Chapman’s death at only 51 years old. The Dog’s Most Wanted star opened up about how he’s coping with the unimaginable loss of his beloved wife in a candid new interview.

“I don’t know what to do. As long as I stay bounty hunting it’s the only thing that keeps my mind off how things are right now,” Duane, 66, told Radar Online. “I just have to keep working!”

The WGN America alum’s wife, Beth, sadly lost her battle with throat cancer on June 26 and he took to Twitter with a heartfelt statement confirming the devastating news. “It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven,” Duane tweeted at the time. “We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”

In November 2018, Beth sadly learned that her cancer was no longer in remission. At the time, she had been cancer free for over a year. The reality star was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital and underwent emergency surgery to remove a tumor in her throat. Despite the set back, Beth managed to maintain a positive outlook on life throughout her battle, inspiring fans everywhere.

Duane and his loved ones recently honored Beth with a memorial service in Hawaii and Colorado. “I cannot believe that she’s gone,” Duane said during his emotional speech at the second service. “This is not possible. I want to wake up from a dream. In the ‘70s, I did 18 months in a Texas penitentiary, and I told God yesterday I’d do 5 years, 10 years day for day just to kiss her again.”

“Everything she taught me, I’m going to get to Heaven,” the reality star added. “I am going to make her so proud.” Our thoughts are with the Chapman family during this tough time.
