Beth Chapman Memorialized in a Traditional Hawaiian Service as Loved Ones Say ‘Aloha ‘Oe’

As In Touch previously reported, Beth’s memorial services were open to fans as well. “Cecily and Lyssa Chapman invite the public to join the Chapman ʻOhana (family) for a gathering to honor Beth Chapmanʻs life. Beth had two homes – Hawai’i and Colorado. ‘I love Hawai’i the most,’ she said, so she will be sent off in true Hawaiian style, with aloha.”

The ceremony began at 2 p.m. and took place at the Fort DeRussy Beach in Waikiki. There was a Hawaiian ʻOli (chant), prayer, followed by a paddle out with family and friends.

The family asked that those who attended should bring ocean-friendly loose flowers — and please no leis (the strings can be harmful to ocean life). There was also a hashtag for the memorial, and guests were asked to post photos and videos with the tag #alohaoemrsdog.

“”Oe’ means ‘you’ in Hawaiian. It is customary to say, ‘Aloha ‘Oe’ especially when saying farewell,” the family’s statement read. “There is a song by the same name which Hawaiians often sing at the end of a party, funerals, or when people are leaving the islands.”

Beth Chapman passed away on Wednesday, June 26 after losing her battle with cancer. She worked with her bond bailsman husband, Duane, and also starred alongside him on the hit A&E reality TV series Dog the Bounty Hunter, which ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012. She went on to star in their own spinoffs, CMT’s Dog and Beth: On the Hunt and the upcoming WGN America series, Dog’s Most Wanted.
