90 Day Fiancé couple Tania Maduro and Syngin Colchester were the subject of split rumors long before they confirmed their breakup in October 2021. Prior to their announcement, fans were already questioning if the married duo were going strong following their reality TV drama on season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and appearances on the TLC spinoffs. Find out what led up to their breakup and where they stand today in 2022.

How Did ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Tania and Syngin Meet?

The couple met when Tania visited South Africa because she had matched with another man on a dating app. When the two of them didn’t hit it off, she ended up chatting it up with bartender Syngin and wound up staying in South Africa for more than four months.

After overcoming the hardships of a long-distance relationship, the pair wed in a July 2019 ceremony that was filmed for the 90 Day Fiancé season 7 finale, which aired in February 2020. They later appeared in season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, in which they documented their marital drama for TLC cameras.

During his return on 90 Day Bares All in March 2021, Syngin said that ultimately what caused them to reevaluate their romance was that he didn’t want to have kids and Tania did. He added their dynamic had already “been rough” for a couple of months, despite trying out marriage counseling to get past their issues.

Are ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Tania and Syngin Still Together?

The couple revealed they parted ways after four years together in an October 2021 statement.

“Some rumors are true — #SingleLife New Season was announced and yes I am single, @syngin_colchester is single — we’re all single!! Now don’t go all at once to his DMs ladies or he’ll never be able to sort them all out,” Tania said about her estranged husband in a video posted via her Instagram at the time.

Fans watched as Tania and Syngin discovered the ways they were incompatible during their time on the spinoff, with him going on to hint at their split in a since-deleted comment teasing his return to TV in September 2021.

Are ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Tania and Syngin Divorced?

In a November 2021 episode of The Single Life, Syngin said that proceeding with a divorce was “the best way forward” for both of them.

“Me and Tania are still doing things that couples do,” he admitted. “But it’s time to step up and get the divorce going. It’s really hard because it’s the cycle of talking about separating, but both of us are too chicken to actually do it because there’s a lot of emotional investment that we’ve put into our relationship.”

“I want to be intimate, I still want to kiss. Why not?” she said about her take on their relationship. “We’re together, we’re still living together. Technically, yeah, we’re separating, but we’re not actually separated yet, like, I don’t consider myself single as of yet, until he’s finally out from under the same roof as me.”

However, In Touch can exclusively confirm as of November 8, 2022, that the former flames have not started the divorce proceedings.

Are ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Tania and Syngin Dating Other People?

Following their split, Syngin documented his return to the dating scene on season 2 of 90 Day: The Single Life. While he was unsuccessful on the series, the South Africa native went Instagram official with a new girlfriend in July 2022.

“Let’s see what happens! (*Not* as seen on TV),” he shared via Instagram alongside a photo of the loved-up couple showing major PDA on the beach. His new partner, who goes by Shan Francisco on Instagram, also took to her IG to share the new couple announcement.

“Loving you is my favorite thing,” she penned.

As for Tania, it was her turn to document her love life on the Discovery+ spinoff. The TLC alum returned for season 3 of 90 Day: The Single Life in September 2022 as she mended her broken heart on the beaches of Aruba. During the series, Tania decided to “widen her net” and was open “to meeting men, women or any friend who will help her move on from her ex.”

While Tania didn’t find a lasting connection on the series, she seemingly admitted to growing feelings for a woman she met in Aruba on part two of the season 3 tell-all, which aired in December 2022.

However, Joel, a man Tania dated in Aruba, felt Tania was leaving the door open to a possible reconciliation with Syngin by not divorcing him. While she admitted to still loving him, the 90 Day Fiancé alum stressed the relationship is in her past.

That same month, a source exclusively told In Touch that Tania allegedly played a role in fellow franchise couple Michael Jessen and Juliana Custodio’s October 2021 split.

“[Juliana] left because they were too close for [her] liking,” an insider said of the alleged romantic connection. “They were seen at the bar, the little pub Fairfield in Cos Cob [Connecticut], kissing and stroking each other’s hands.”

Both couples appeared on season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé, which debuted in November 2019.
