Holding out hope. Kalani Faagata revealed her relationship status with husband Asuelu Pulaa after their family feud nearly led the pair to call it quits.

The Samoa native was back at home while appearing on part 1 of the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? couples tell-all on Sunday, September 27, following Kalani’s decision to send Asuelu to live with his mother, Lesina, for a while.

“I miss my boys and also my wife,” the father of two, 25, explained about what motivated him to return to their Utah abode.

When asked about where they stand, Kalani shared an update. “Today, we are together and we’re living together, but we aren’t anywhere near where we used to be when we were first together,” she said. “We’re just in a really rocky place right now.” Asuelu explained there were a lot of issues leading them to argue.

Kalani said he went out six days a week to play volleyball and sent her videos not wearing a face mask amid the pandemic, which made her worried for their health. The reality star added that her mom, Lisa, has a pre-existing heart condition, which is one of the reasons she wanted Asuelu to leave in the first place.

Asuelu was also keeping busy instructing dance classes, but Kalani, 32, said the money he made for their household was “not worth the risk.”

Lisa and Kalani’s sister, Kolini, were also present for the special, so they sounded off about the topic. Lisa slammed Asuelu for being “irresponsible” and Kolini said her brother-in-law should really be more careful and take essential trips out only.

Later on, they shared a throwback clip showing the time Asuelu cussed at Kalani and Lisa while they were having a heated conversation in the car. Host Shaun Robinson asked for Kolini’s reaction to the drama and she was “not shocked by it,” although she was “looking forward to the day that it ends.”

Kolini said she didn’t see them together in the future at the rate they were going.

As for Lisa’s thoughts on their marriage, she said, “I know my daughter, and unless he’s going to start changing like he expects everyone else to change for him, it’s not going to last. She’s not going to put up with this stuff … there is no way.”

Asuelu admitted he regretted what he said, claiming he didn’t think before he spoke. When his sister, Tammy, came into the chat next, the tension heightened.

The group reflected on their money dispute and Tammy argued that Asuelu and Kalani should send money back home to family in Samoa. Kolini and Lisa understood where they were coming from, but noted the couple can only offer what they have.

Tammy got frustrated when Kolini asked how much she sent back home. “Don’t worry about it,” Tammy said. “Then don’t worry about [your brother],” Kolini replied.

Part 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? tell-all will air next Sunday on TLC.
