An emotional discovery. Brittany Banks broke down in tears after Yazan Abu Huriras brother, Obaida, revealed Yazan was facing death threats in the new episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, which aired on Sunday, November 22.

Obaida voiced his concerns about the couple’s long-distance relationship and marriage plans via their translator, Adam, during a meeting with Brittany, 26. “I want to see her. It’s necessary,” Yazan’s sibling said in his confessional.

Brittany was also anxious to speak to Obaida alone to get a “clear picture” of what was going on with their family in Jordan, so she could find out how they really “feel.” The Chicago native expressed how much she loved Yazan, 24, and said she wanted to move forward with him, but was worried about the backlash he would face.

“To be honest. I am scared for Yazan,” Obaida told her via the translator. “The family is not accepting this situation and their point of view is that he is gonna marry a foreigner and become like them [and abandon his faith],” he explained.

Yazan’s family feared he would change his “customs” and leave behind his “traditions” to pursue a “woman,” which they would not support. Obaida said some of their relatives started to “hate” Yazan, adding, “They will kill him.”

Obaida explained the brood felt Yazan’s choices were impacting all of them and that could have dire consequences, which made Brittany start crying immediately. “It’s hard because I know how much he loves his family,” she replied. Obaida comforted Brittany and told her that he will “stand by” Yazan no matter what.

“He’s truly gonna lose many things,” Obaida also pointed out, making sure Brittany understood how much Yazan was sacrificing to make their relationship work.

The season 2 star later asked him if converting to Islam would help. Obaida said it wouldn’t improve the situation because their loved ones don’t want her to change her religious beliefs only to “appease” them. “Just leave it to destiny,” he noted.

In his follow-up confessional, Obaida said he could tell Brittany truly “loves” Yazan because of how upset she was. Brittany felt compelled to look out for Yazan going forward after learning he was very much in “danger” in his home country.

Earlier in the episode, Yazan shared his own concerns during a sit-down meeting with Brittany and her friend, Angela. He revealed his plans to confront his parents and tell them he will marry Brittany, but said “they might disown me.”

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs on TLC Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.
