She was afraid for her daughter. Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans called 911 to have the police go to her mother’s house after she claimed to hear her 2-year-old, Ensley, screaming in another room. Jenelle’s mom, Barbara Evans, currently has custody of the little girl, and in another 911 call, David Eason — Jenelle’s husband — asked if a similar incident could be reported to child protective services. Barbara, 66, has been taking care of Ensley since David, 31, and Jenelle, 27, lost temporary custody of their kids. Together, the couple has five children. Jenelle has two from previous relationships — Jace and Kaiser —and David has two from previous relationships, Kaden and Maryssa. They share Ensley, the youngest.

Barbara already had custody of Jace before the incident that led the Teen Mom couple to lose custody of the children temporarily. Jenelle’s mom has posted updates on social media about Jace and Ensley since the little girl started staying with her, and fans have been pleased with how happy the little girl seems in her Instagram posts.

Over Memorial Day weekend, the grandmother and granddaughter headed to the beach with Jace. “Oak Island, NC,” Barb shared on Instagram on May 26, as they went to the North Carolina shore. “With Jace, Ensley and my son Colin having fun.” Fans noted how happy the little girl looked, responding with comments like, “She’s smiling!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile!!”

But apparently, Jenelle is not convinced her kids are getting the best care with their grandmother. The children were removed from Jenelle’s care after David shot and killed the family dog, Nugget, for snapping at Ensley, and the couple has been fighting to get them back, but it could be a long process.

In the meantime, their mother became concerned with their care after a video call with Jace. “David and I were on FaceTime with Jace when we heard my mom say to Ensley, ‘Come here, I have to take a shower.,'” Jenelle explained to Us Weekly.

“Then she took Ensley in the other room, and we immediately heard her screaming and crying,” Jenelle continued. “We asked Jace what was going on, and he said my mom locked Ensley in the bedroom so she can take a shower.”

The reality star added, “We told Jace to get the door open, and when he couldn’t get the door open, we called 911 for help because all we could hear was Ensley screaming.” A 911 call made by the couple echoed their worries.

Freaking Out

“My mother-in-law has locked my 2-year-old child in the bedroom so that she could take a shower, and now she can’t get the door open, and my child is freaking out,” David told the dispatcher during the call. “She’s been screaming on the phone for the past five to 10 minutes.” Barbara did not immediately respond to In Touch’s request for comment.

He also inquired as to whether the dispatcher could report the incident to child protective services, but the dispatcher said David could do that when an officer followed up with him.

“I’m actually calling to have a welfare check done on my two children, Jace Evans and Ensley Eason,” the reality TV mom said in a recent, similar recording reported by Us Weekly. “My mother right now is taking care of my two children. And she just called me, and I’m just trying to call and check on my kids, and I hear a lot of screaming and yelling in the background.”

“I don’t know what’s being said,” Jenelle noted on the call. “She’s screaming and yelling and carrying on about the kids, saying that my son is hitting my daughter. And now she refuses to answer the phone, so I would just like a welfare check done if that’s possible.”

Previously, a video of Jenelle and Barbara arguing outside a North Carolina courthouse surfaced, suggesting that not all is well with the mother-daughter duo. “I’m right outside the courthouse, giving my daughter a hug,” Jenelle told Barb at the time. “If you have a problem with it, then go get an officer because obviously, she’s not scared. I’m hugging her.”

“I do feel like my relationship with my mom is destroyed at this point,” Jenelle told Us Weekly after the fight. “This isn’t a way a mother should be treating her daughter … She fights so hard for my sister and my brother when they are the ones with major issues, not me.”
