Missing her baby? Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans and her husband, David Eason, seem to be trying to make the best of things in the midst of their ongoing custody battle. Just one week after the couple lost temporary custody of their children, Jenelle, 27, took to her personal Facebook page to share a throwback photo of David, 30, and their daughter Ensley when she was a baby.

The photo was originally posted on June 2, 2017, and in the shot, David was giving baby Ensley, who is now 2 years old, a kiss on the cheek. “#DaddysGirl 🎀,” Jenelle wrote in the caption at the time. But it seems like the photo popped up on the MTV alum’s Facebook feed on Sunday, June 2, because she reshared the photo on her timeline, adding the revolving hearts emoji as her caption.

The repost seemed bittersweet because Jenelle and David currently do not have custody of Ensley or any of their children — and it’s the direct result of all of the fallout following David’s dog killing incident. On April 29, the former Teen Mom 2 star shot and killed the family’s dog Nugget on their property. Ensley is Jenelle and David’s biological daughter and they each have children from previous relationships — Jenelle has 9-year-old son Jace and 4-year-old Kaiser, while David has 11-year-old daughter Maryssa and 5-year-old son Kaden. But since David does not have custody of Kaden and Jenelle does not have custody of Jace, only Maryssa, Ensley and Kaiser were home at the time of the shooting. Shortly after the incident, a CPS investigation was opened against them after a caller expressed concern for the children’s wellbeing after witnessing such a violent act.

Since then, CPS stepped in and ordered Ensley, Maryssa and Kaiser to be removed from Jenelle and David’s home and they spent four full days in court to plea their case in an attempt regain custody. During their final court day on May 28, Jenelle and David officially lost temporary custody of their children. “The judge told Jenelle that she failed to protect the children while they were in her care,” an insider told Radar. Jenelle and David are due in court this week, according to The Ashley, where they will learn what they can do to try to regain custody of their kids.
