The custody drama continues! While Jenelle Evans has been fighting in court to regain custody of her kids, who were removed by CPS in mid-May, her daughter, Ensley Eason, has been staying with Barbara Evans, the Teen Mom 2 star’s mom. Over the Memorial Day weekend, the grandmother and granddaughter headed to the beach with Ensley’s brother Jace, who lives with Barb full time, and the kids’ uncle, Colin. Though the toddler is surely missing her mom and dad, David Eason, it seemed like she still managed to have some fun in the sun.

“Oak Island, NC,” Barb, 66, shared on Instagram on Sunday, May 26, as they headed to the North Carolina shore. “With Jace, Ensley and my son Colin having fun.” In the photo, Ensley was all dressed up in a bright orange bathing suit while eating a snack. Behind her, Jenelle’s brother was also enjoying the beach day. Fans couldn’t help but comment on how sweet the little girl looked, writing, “She’s smiling!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile!!”

But while the grandma’s followers were hoping that Ensley will get to stay with Barb for a while longer, Jenelle was clearly missing her kids. On her Facebook, she was sharing old photos of her sons, Jace and Kaiser, having fun on vacations. In one post, Kaiser could be seen building a sandcastle in May 2016. “Awwwh, my bubba was so small,” Jenelle wrote on May 25, 2019. Reposting a 2014 photo of Jace hanging out by the water, she added a pulsing red heart.

She also shared another Facebook post, though, and this one seemed particularly relevant. On Friday, May 24, she reposted a tweet that someone else had shared. “Not everyone will appreciate that you’ve evolved because they still have a particular version of you stuck in their head,” the message read. “[It’s] their problem, though, not yours. Evolve as you please.”

That message felt especially poignant as commenters on Barb’s Instagram took digs at Jenelle’s parenting. “Ensley looks so much happier,” wrote one. “You can see the difference from when she lives with Jenelle. She doesn’t look so stressed.” Another wrote, “It’s nice to see this baby finally looking happy! She always looks so scared and uneasy when she is with her parents. Lord knows that’s a hostile, unhealthy environment that is doing a lot of mental harm to those poor babies.” A third kept it simple: “Thank you for being their mom when their [actual] mom choose the abuser over her kids.”
