Teen Mom OG’s Mackenzie McKee Looks Forward to ‘Growing’ and ‘Healing’ With Florida Move After Josh Drama
When one door closes, another opens. Teen Mom OG star Mackenzie McKee is preparing to move to Florida and looking forward to starting a new chapter. The MTV alum shared an update about her relocation from Oklahoma to the “Sunshine State” following her drama with estranged husband Josh McKee.
When asked why she is making the big change on Friday, August 28, the mom of three explained she never left her hometown in all of these years.
“I’m at a point where I’m ready to see what else is out there, grow my career, heal, get away, show my kids more to life. I could only grow so much here,” the 25-year-old wrote via Instagram Stories, noting she will leave next week.
Mackenzie said she loves the “warmth and beaches,” and confirmed their kids will be going with her. As far as how that will impact her coparenting with Josh, 27, she revealed they are “just going to figure out how to make it work.”
After shutting down reconciliation rumors, the TV personality said she is leaving the past where it belongs. “We have both been pretty s–ty to one another,” Mackenzie wrote. “I’m 25 with a great life ahead of me. Why would I let him have the control of me, living an anger-filled life. I’m too good for that. Life is too short.”
Earlier this month, she shared an update about their relationship status. “Josh called to tell me happy wedding anniversary, and I did my best to pretend like I didn’t forget,” the fitness guru joked via Twitter. “Oops.”
At the time, her post led some fans to believe they worked out their issues, but she confirmed they were not giving their romance another go. After they parted ways in May, the duo made a point of maintaining their cordial relationship for the sake of their three kids — Gannon, Jaxie and Broncs.
Mackenzie is now eager to make exciting new memories after tragically losing her beloved mother, Angie Douthit, in December 2019. In the wake of her mom’s death, the reality star told In Touch exclusively she hoped Angie inspired other people to be nice and to cherish every minute of life.
“We’re not promised next year, and we’re not promised another second,” she said in hindsight. “It’s really time to start being kind and making an impact and loving and living the way that God intended us to live.”
