This is not what we expected. Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans claimed her relationship with husband David Eason is actually “stronger” than ever since he shot and killed her dog, Nugget. Say what!? The former reality TV mom was asked directly whether it was a “hard decision” to stay with David after the incident and responded to the question on her Instagram Story. However, David had a criminal record before that as well — he has actually done time before for larceny, breaking and entering, injury to property, and drug paraphernalia possession.

David also made some gross homophobic and transphobic comments in February 2018 that got him fired from Teen Mom 2. “David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV,” the show’s network tweeted at the time. “With six weeks left of production on Teen Mom 2, effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him.”

Basically, Jenelle and David have faced trouble in the past and stayed together in spite of it all. But many people thought David killing her dog, Nugget, would be the final straw for Jenelle.

What Happened?

On April 30, police were called to the couple’s home after David was accused of killing the French bulldog. Around the same time, Jenelle posted a cryptic status on her social media page that said she was “feeling devastated.” Later, an insider told Us Weekly, “The dog snapped at [their 2-year-old daughter] Ensley and that prompted David’s decision to shoot it.”

On Defense

Jenelle’s husband later defended his decision to shoot the dog. He insisted that he was just protecting his kids and wrote on May 1, “I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face. … Whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog, and I don’t put up with that s–t at all.”

He added, “I’m all about protecting my family. It is my life’s mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for, and my family means that much to me.”

“You can hate me all you want, but this isn’t the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively,” David continued. “The only person that can judge [whether] or not [an] animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”

However, someone else did end up judging David for his behavior, and pretty harshly at that — Child Protective Services. Following the incident, a judge ordered that all of the children be removed from Jenelle’s custody.

The Kids

Jenelle and David are parents to five kids together, but some are from past relationships. Jenelle’s son Jace, 9, was fathered by her ex-boyfriend Andrew Lewis, and her 4-year-old, Kaiser, is shared with ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith. David has an 11-year-old daughter named Maryssa and a son named Kaden from previous relationships. They share Ensley. For a short period, the duo had custody of none of those kids.

Jenelle’s mom, Barbara Evans, already had custody of Jace, but she took custody of Ensley in the aftermath, too. However, Jenelle regained custody of Ensley, as well as Kaiser, on July 3.

“I am ecstatic to regain custody of my kids back!” Jenelle told E! News on July 8. “Throughout this long process and final decision, I am excited to be moving forward and continuing to show America I’m a good parent.” The outlet also reported that Jace will remain in Barb’s care.

Jenelle was also asked on her Instagram Story, “How’s everything been since having all the kids back? Does Jace get to live with y’all too?” She replied, “Everything and everyone is doing great. We are super grateful and happy. Jace will live with us full time soon but not now.”
