Jed Duggar and Wife Katey Duggar Welcome Baby No. 2: Details on the Birth
Family of four! Jed Duggar and his wife, Katey Duggar (née Nakatsu) welcomed baby No. 2.
“She’s here! And we’re so in love,” Jed, 24, captioned an Instagram post on Friday, June 2, featuring a photo of their new baby girl. “Welcome to the world, sweet girl. Nora Kate Duggar.”
The couple announced Katey’s second pregnancy in December 2022 in a YouTube video on their joint account.
“We have some news. Big news,” Jed told their fans before turning the camera to Katey, 24, who was wearing a sweatshirt that read, “Joy to the world oh and I’m pregnant.” She then added, “I’m pregnant … surprise!”
The clip backtracked to the pair learning about the pregnancy in September 2022. “It was yesterday Katey came to me and said ‘I have a surprise for you, I will tell you tonight,” Jed explained.
“She pulled me aside and she said, ‘Hey, so I took this pregnancy test the day before and she said there was a faint line that came up and she said I wasn’t for sure so I took another this morning, which would have been yesterday morning, and it came back positive,’” the Counting On alum continued.
The announcement video also documented the couple announcing her pregnancy to his family during an “ugly sweater” Christmas party.
Several of Jed’s family members, including his father Jim Bob Duggar, were surprised the couple announced they were expecting just seven months after welcoming baby No. 1.
“Seriously? You are? Number two! I thought you just had one,” Jim Bob, 57, told his son. Noting that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar share 19 kids, Jed responded, “We’re trying to catch up with you guys.”
In December 2022, the couple shared that they’re expecting a girl and they planned to name her Nora Kate in a YouTube video.
Jed and Katey – who tied the knot in 2021 – are already the parents to son Truett, whom they welcomed in May 2022.
“He’s here!” the TLC alum wrote via Instagram on May 3 alongside several sweet family photos from their hospital room. “We love you so much, baby True!”
At the time, Jed explained that their son’s first name means “warrior for Christ” and his middle name, Oliver, means “peace.”
Since welcoming Truett, the proud parents have given their fans glimpses into their lives as parents.
“Happy half birthday, Truett! How is our little man 6 months old already??” Jed wrote alongside an adorable photo of their eldest child via Instagram in November 2022. “Every day with you is an absolute gift, Truett Oliver. We love you so much.”
The news of Jed and Katey’s newest addition to their family comes right on the heels of the new Prime Video documentary, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, which aired on June 2. In the docuseries, Amy King (née Duggar) and Jill Dillard (née Duggar) rehashed their time growing up under their family’s IBLP (Institute in Basic Life Principles) practices.
