After a difficult few months, superstar Ariana Grande isn’t letting anyone walk all over her. Just days before the 2019 Grammy Awards, one of the show’s producers, Ken Ehrlich, told The Associated Press why the “Thank U, Next” singer wouldn’t be performing — but now the songstress herself is saying that’s all BS. On Twitter, Ari shared a screenshot of the article in which Ehrlich had claimed that she “felt it was too late for her to pull something together” in time to take the stage. In a series of savage tweets, she proceeded to tear that statement apart and tell her own side of the story. “Mhmmm, here it is!” she wrote on the social media site. “‘Too late for her to pull something together…'” she mocked.

In her own words, she explained that she was speaking out now because these alleged “lies” about her were just too much for her to bear. “I’ve kept my mouth shut, but now you’re lying about me,” she clapped back in a personal call out. “I can pull together a performance overnight, and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”

That was far from the end, though. She continued, “I offered three different songs. It’s about collaboration. It’s about feeling supported. It’s about art and honesty. Not politics. Not doing favors or playing games. It’s just a game y’all … And I’m sorry, but that’s not what music is to me.”

The kicker of her rant was when she finished up, pointing out how despite shading her in the press, the show was still using her for promotion. “Passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those,” she snarked. At the same time, though, she does want to acknowledge that her decision not to perform under the circumstances might disappoint some fans. And considering the fact that she’s got a great shot of winning her first Grammy this year, she didn’t want to come across as too harsh. “Hope that helps everyone understand my decision,” she tweeted after she was done. “I am still grateful for the acknowledgment this year.”

Another few minutes later and the singer had already moved on. After all, girl’s got a new music video and a whole dang album coming out tonight. Right now, she’s got bigger fish to fry than the Grammy’s — and more exciting things to look forward to.
