When it comes to asking for help from fans, Tiffany Franco Smith prefers to wait for the right cause. Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star announced she would be starting a GoFundMe for her uncle — and explains why she never started one for Ronald Smith. On Wednesday, March 25, she used her Instagram Story to share the sobering update.

“I am very sad to share this news, but my uncle (actually my grandmother’s brother, but I always called him tío) has tested positive for coronavirus,” Tiffany wrote. “I spoke to my family (including his ex-wife). He is very sick and has Alzheimer’s and is non-verbal. I’m scared, because I know this virus is taking the elderly and sick and he is both.”

In a second Story, she continued, “So many DMs I have received for a long time [asked] me to make a GoFundMe to help with Ronald’s visa, and I thanked the people who wanted to help but turned them down, because I know our responsibilities. We are meant to handle them OURselves. I don’t agree with using this platform to ask my followers for anything. But now, speaking to [my tío’s] wife and my grandmother, I think I will be opening a GoFundMe for my uncle (not yet, only when I know what’s going to happen).”

A third post thanked fans and encouraged them to stay safe. “This virus is not a meme or a joke,” the 90 Day Fiancé star said. “Please, even if you feel stupid, STAY HOME. And if you can’t, WEAR A MASK AND GLOVES AND SANITIZE EVERYTHING.”

Thankfully, the reality personality will have her hubby’s support throughout this trying time. On March 24, Tiffany revealed she and her estranged husband are “working” through their issues. After announcing their split in January 2020 and then joining her man for a date night in March, the mom of two had fans guessing about where the couple stood, but she finally confirmed they are not divorced or even separated. “We might not know what the future holds, but we both hope to fight for our marriage and spend the rest of our lives together,” she told fans.
