’90 Day Fiancé’ Stars Tiffany and Ronald Hope to Start Visa Process So He Can Come to America
Change of plans! 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way stars Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith had one major thing in common with the rest of their costars from season 1 of the hit TLC reality TV series: one half of their couple would be leaving everything behind in America to relocated to a foreign country to be with the one they love. Tiffany packed up her son and moved to South Africa to be with Ronald, but during part 2 of the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way tell-all, she revealed she would not be permanently relocating to Ronald’s home country after all because they were hoping to start Ronald’s visa process.
“He’s coming to America,” Tiffany told tell-all host Shaun Robinson. But even though Tiffany announced the big news, Ronald admitted that they have not yet started the visa application. “No, not yet. it’s not a cheap process. It’s just, it’s a big amount of money,” Ronald said.
The news comes as a surprise to fans, because earlier in the season it seemed like there would be no hope for Ronald to enter the United States via the CR-1 Visa, which allows a foreigner who is the spouse of a U.S. citizen to legally enter the country. Ronald previously admitted to having a criminal record due to his struggle with a gambling addiction. Tiffany previous revealed some of the charges included a speeding ticket, possession of a drug, an armed robbery charge and a charge for stolen money.
During one scene in particular, Tiffany met with immigration lawyer Robert Gillespie, who explained that the criminal record plays a big role in the visa process. The lawyer said even if Ronald wasn’t convicted and he was charged, it still would pose a problem for Ronald. But it seems like once the lawyer saw Ronald’s criminal record in its entirety, it seems like Ronald’s criminal past won’t hurt his chances of getting a visa.
“Well, we did end up talking to that same lawyer again and when he looked further into the details on the record, seeing that he’s never been convicted of any charge, it’s all been withdrawn,” Tiffany said during the tell-all. “So technically speaking, his record is clear.”
