They’re excited to see her back! Wendy Williams wiped away tears during her first appearance back on her talk show after a hiatus but still managed to get some jokes in while she addressed her enthusiastic audience. Watch the video above to see the emotional moment for yourself.

“We only have an hour, let’s go!” Wendy, 54, jokingly told her audience before she started in on her usual monologue. On the March 19 episode of her talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, Wendy revealed that she is currently living in a sober home as she continues to battle addiction. So the fact that she’s back on the show and seems to be doing well is a great sign.

Previously, Wendy explained that she struggled with a cocaine addiction in the past and hadn’t gotten the help she needed. So she’s been living in a sober house, and when she first told her audience back in mid-March, she detailed her daily routine which includes going to several meetings in the tri-state area and working with a sober coach. After Wendy goes to her meetings, her sober coach drives her back to her sober living home.

In the midst of all of that, Wendy took a short break from her talk show and returned April 8. However, she also issued a national public service announcement on Friday, April 5, directed at anyone struggling with their sobriety. She told people they could call The Hunter Foundation’s 1-888-5HUNTER drug addiction and substance abuse treatment resources hotline, which she launched alongside husband, Kevin Hunter, and son Kevin Jr. back on March 11. “We will provide you referrals for long or short-term treatment at facilities all around the world — detox, rehab, sober living and outpatient centers,” Wendy said in the PSA.

So while Wendy may have been away from her show for a quick minute, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t kept busy. She’s working on other projects and on herself, and honestly, we wish her good luck.
