ReportWendy Williams’ Staff Has Been ‘Walking on Eggshells’ Amid Her Sober Living Situation
Left in the dark? On Tuesday, March 19, Wendy Williams took a moment during her popular daytime TV show to reveal that she is currently living in a sober house as she seeks treatment for addiction. But her announcement reportedly came as a shock to The Wendy Williams Show staffers. Insiders revealed that many of her staff members did not really know the extent of what the 54-year-old was going through.
“They all knew something was up, but didn’t know details. The staff have all been kept at arm’s length,” one source told Radar Online.
Her admission comes just two weeks after Wendy returned to the show after taking a six-week hiatus. She previously explained that she took a break from the show because she was experiencing health issues due to complications from her thyroid issues and Graves disease. But there was another underlying issue, and another insider said that it caused tension behind-the-scenes.
“Everyone has been walking on eggshells,” the source revealed. “Last week a high profiled publicist was at the show with a client and spoke to Wendy during a commercial break. Things got crazy, the publicist got pushed away by security and told by producers that they can NEVER approach or talk to Wendy ever again. She’s literally isolating herself and trusts no one.”
Wendy has been known to live her life like an open book, and she even broke down in tears as she shared her truth with her audience and viewers, one that she claimed only her husband and her son knew about. But a third source said that her staff is feeling betrayed by Wendy keeping her sober living situation a secret from them.
“The staff has given her everything to make her and the show a hit, and yet, she still doesn’t trust them. It’s crazy,” the insider said.
